Attend Rally
Editor,
Zurich Citizens News:
Dear Sir:
On Tuesday morning of this
week we found our children's
pet rabbit dead, undoubtedly
the work of a large dog, as the
hutch, in which the rabbit had
been locked for the night, had
the end clawed off.
While we are reasonably sure
of the identity of the dog in-
volved, there is no positive evi-
dence. In addition, it is our
considered opinion that two
wrongs never did make a right.
There is no by-law in the vil-
lage of Zurich stating that dogs
must be tied up, only a motion
— which is meaningless. It
never ceases to amaze us, how-
ever, how people who keeps
dogs and confess to be .animal
lovers, can let them run loose,
causing death to other pets as
well as property damage.
While there is nothing we can
do to restore life to the little
pet that was loved so dearly by
our children, we are asking
publicly that all owners of pet
dogs use some discretion in
keeping them in or tied up,
especially at night. In this way
we may safeguard our pets that
are more helpless than others,
and lessen the heartache of our
children.
Ray and Mary Waters,
Zurich.

In Bend Vote
GRAND BEND — Though
Grand Bend village council re-
fused to set up an advance poll
for municipal elections, on a
Saturday so that city ratepay-
ers could vote on the weekend,
they have made some steps to
help these out-of-town residents.
At a special council meeting
held a week ago, council amend-
ed the by-law setting dates and
times of the election, to keep
the polls open for two more
hours. Instead of closing at 6
p.m., the polls will remain open
until 8 p.m. This should give
people plenty of time to drive
to the village after work, if
they wish to vote, on Decem-
ber 2.
