parents, Mr, and Mrs, George

Mr. and Mrs. Jim Firth, of
Belleville, were weekend guests
with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Beer.
Legion Jackpot this Saturday

Institute members of South
Huron will apear on M'Lday
program on OKNX, Wingham,

Celebrate Birthday
John Passmore was honored
en his eighty-fifth birthday,
when members of his family
met at the Dufferin Hotel, Cen-
tralia, on Sunday, for a turkey
dinner. They returned to the
home of Miss Marion McLean,
where he was presented with
gifts, Those present were Mr.
and Mrs, William J. McLean,
Bill McLean, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis
Wilbur, Mr, and Mrs. Floyd
Rock, Lou and Larry, Mr. and
Mrs. Lorne Elder, Jean, Kath-
erine and John, all of Hamilton;
Mr. and Mrs. John Passmore,

Winners of the lucky draw
at Hensall Motor Sales on Fri-
day, November 1, were: Port-
able TV set, Keith Buchanan,
Hensall; transistor radio,
Eleanor Darling, Lucan; transis-

Jim McGregor, of Kippen,
drew the winning tickets. The
draw was held in connection
with the introducing of new
cars for the month of October.

25th Wedding Anniversary
A surprise family dinner was
held at the home of Mr. and
Mrs, Bert Horton, Sunday, for
Mr. and Mrs. P. D. McNaughton,
on the occasion of their 25th
wedding anniversary. They
were presented with a gift from
the family. Attending from out
of town were Miss Mae Mc-
Naughton, London; Mr. and
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Scruton,
Port Dover, and Mr. and Mrs.
Gordon Vickers and family,
Newmarket.
During the morning service
at Carmel Presbyterian Church
Sunday a special ceremony was
held for Patricia Schwalm. In
the graduation ceremony she
was presented with a gradua-
tion certificate and the C.G.I.T.
graduation pin. Three new
members of the C.G,I.T. were
presented with their member-
ship pins at this time, Lois
Wright, Faye Troyer, Ann
(Trudy) Funk.
The W.M.S. and Arnold Circle
of Carmel Church are invited
to St. Andrews United Church,
Kippen, on November 12, where
they will be guests of the
U.C.W.
Mrs. Eleanor McKenzie, of
Kippen, is spending three weeks
with her cousin in Holstein.
The Guides on Saturday can-
vassed the village, taking orders
for Christmas tags made by
themselves, and received 378
orders with more to come in.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bon-
thron left Sunday, November 3,
by jet for Hawaii where they
will vacation for twelve days.
The trip, sponsored by the
Sealy Mattress Company, Toron-
to, was won by Mr. Bonthron
for selling the most mattresses,
Mrs. Bill Parsons, RR 1,
Cromarty, was taken by Bon-
thron ambulance to Victoria
Hospital, London.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bonthron
left Monday for Orlanda, Flor-
ida, where they will spend the
winter months.
Members of ,the Hensall Le-
gion Auxiliary bowling teams
took part in a bowling tourna-
ment at Exeter on Wednesday,
with three teams participating.

Successful Bazaar
At Carmel Church
The Sunday School rooms of
Carmel Presbyterian Church,
Hensall, lovely with floral dec-
orations in autumn tones, was
the setting for the annual ba-
zaar and afternoon •tea, spon-
sored by the Ladies' Aid.
The C.G.I.T. girls had a candy
booth which netted them $14,
and they also had on display a
lemon tree bearing three large
lemons, each weighing three-
quarters of a pound, and owned
by Mrs. Gordon Schwalm, of
Hensall.
Conveners for the apron and
fancy work were Mrs. Earl
Campbell, Mrs. Harvey Hyde;
bake table, Mrs. Ed Munn, Mrs.
Percy Campbell, Mrs. Lorne
Luker; produce, Mrs. Robert
Madge, Mrs. Al Hoggarth, Mrs.
Pearl Love; tea tables, Mrs. Gor-
don Troyer, Mrs. Glenn Bell,
Mrs. A. R. Orr, Mrs. John H.
Soldan, Mrs. Gordon Schwalm.
Mrs. Ross MacDonald formed
the reception committee, and
Rev. MacDonald opened the
bazaar.

Public Relations will be the
theme of Hensali • Women's In-
stitute for their November
meeting, in the Legion Hall,
Wednesday, November 13, at
8:15 p.m. Roll Call: "A notable
Hensallite", A good program
is being arranged.
At the recent Cage -Bird Show
held in London with competi-
tors as far west as Vancouver,
John E. Caldwell, of Hensall,
was successful in winning one
first, one second, and two thirds
with his Red Factor Canaries.
He had five entries.
Mrs. Gus Voth, of Royal Oak,
Mich., visited over the weekend
with her mother, Mrs. Lou
Simpson.
Mrs. W. J. F. Bell, Mrs. Vivan
Cooper, Mrs. James Drummond,
Mrs. Harry Caldwell, of Kippen
East W.I.; Mrs. Beverly Beaton
and Mrs, James McAllister, of
Hensall, attend the Area Con-
vention, as •delegates, held at
the new holiday Inn, London,
Monday and Tuesday of this
week.
Mrs. Norman. Long, of, Kip -
pen, is a patient in Scott Mem-
orial Hospital, Seaforth.
Mr. Eldon Jarrett, who has
been a patient in South Huron.
Hospital for the past six weeks,
has returned home.
In a draw at Oakridge Acres
shopping centre, London, on
Saturday last, John H. Soldan,
of Hay Township, won second
prize, an eight millimettre
brownie Kodak camera. Mr.
Soldan had shopped at the
Centre about two weeks previ-
ous to the draw.
At the Hallowe'en party and
social evening held in the Le-
gion Hall Friday evening, spon-
sored by the Hensall Legian

Notice of Street Closing
NOTICE is hereby given that pursuant to the Muni-
cipal Act and other powers thereunto enablingt The
Council of the Corporation of the Village of Hensall
proposes to pass a by-law to stop up and close a portion
of Wellington Street which said portion may be more
particularly described as follows:
That portion of land contained within and commenc-
ing at a point 25 feet south of the south westerly corner
of the intersection of Mill and Wellington Streets thence
easterly 11 feet thence southerly 55 feet thence westerly
11 feet to the boundary line of lot 40 Wilson's Survey,
then northerly 55 feet along the westerly boundary of
Wellington Street to point of commencement.
And further take Notice that the Council of the said
Corporation will hear in person, or by Counsel, Solicitor
or Agent, any person who claims that his land will be
prejudicially affected by the said by-law and who ap-
plies to be heard at a meeting to be held in the Councal
Chambers at the Town Hall, on Tuesday, November 12, 1963,
at the hour of 8 o'clock P.M.

These are initial, not final, hearings. Briefs will be pre-
sented by a responsible officer of the organization con-
cerned or the individual wishing to make the submission,
or their legal counsel. Participants may have expert wit-
nesses appear for them.
Participants will be asked to present only the summaries
and conclusions of briefs as well as their recommendations.
They are free to elaborate orally and offer arguments.
Persons appearing before the Enquiry may be examined
directly by the members of the Enquiry.
Persons submitting briefs are permitted to introduce at
the hearings supplementary information and material in
written form. These, to be known as exhibits, will be filed
with the Commission and numbered in order of
presentation.
REMINDER—Briefs (25 copies) on the proposed Medical
Services Insurance programme must be submitted by
November 15th to the Secretary.
