Church tradition calls for penance: the Word of God calls for repentance: what is the difference? Penance represents religious acts and ceremonies in an attempt to establish the righteousness of man before a Holy God. Repentance is a denouncing of the righteousness of man and accepting without reserve, the goodness of God as a gift in Jesus Christ, by the finished salvation of the cross. Repentance or penance? Rock or sand? On which are you building? Write Box M.E. Citizens' News. THE MENNONITE EVANGELISM COMMITTEE el!ijit!( Hensall United Church REV. HAROLD F.
