New Sub -division At Lake Front Is
Liven Approval by Harry Township
Another new sub -division is
being started in Hay Township,
with the opening by Victor
Brisson and Leon Bedard of
the lake frontage behind Mr.
Bedard's farm, on the Bluewa-
ter highway. Approval for the
registering of the new sub -di-
vision was granted at the last
regular meeting of the council
of Hay Township, last Friday
afternoon.
Payment to Stanley Town-
ship of $1,325 was approved as
the Hay Township portion of
the Drysdale. Municipal Drain.
The clerk was also authorized
to pay Usborne Township the
assessment towards the Tuckey
Municipal Drain.
A grant of $20 towards the
Dashwood Public Library was
approved by council.
A grant of $S00 was made to
the Arena Board, for operating
costs in 1961. The clerk was in-
structed to bill the village of
Zurich for one-third of the
amount.
Clerk Brokenshire was in-
structed to ask engineer C. P.
Corbett for further information
in regards to his suggestion
that a branch of the Thiel drain
be run west to the Laidlaw pro-
perty. The council would like
to know how many feet of
drain is needed, and the size
of the tile required.
Council passed by-law No. 14,
authorizing the purchase by
Hay Municipal Telephone Sys-
tem of certain telephone cir-
cuits from the Bell Telephone
Company, between Kkiva and
the Grand Bend Airport.
Clerk Brokenshire was auth-
orized to make payment to Les
Beattie. of Seaforth, the amount
of 80% of his contract for the
work on the Thiel drain. Will-
iam Lawrence is to receive
75% of his contract work on
the Kading Drain.

Bread crumbs combined with
either cooked sausage, oysters,
or cooked chestnuts are ideal,
advises the Food Department of
Macdonald Institute, Guelph.
Since duck and geese are
naturally fat, they do not re-
quire a rich stuffing. They tend
to soak up fat and moisture
during roasting. Fairly highly
seasoned crumbs or fruit dres-
sings are suitable. Instead of
dressing, a couple of apples
cut in half may be placed in
the cavity.
Use 1 cup of bread dressing

makes 8 cups of dressing; day-
old bread is best. To measure

completely thaw and then stuff
just before placing in the oven,
or bake the stuffing separately
in a pan during the last hour
of roasting, to reduce the dan-
ger of bacterial poisoning.
Before filling with dressing,
sprinkle the inside of the bird
with a little salt.
Do not pack the cavity too
tightly; the stuffing absorbs
juices and expands during
roasting.
