Mr. Plante is a brother of Mrs, Jeffrey. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Case and family, of Barrie, spent the week -end with members of their family in Zurich. Week -end visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ferd Harberer were, Mr. and Mrs. Arn Meyer and son, of Mt. Pleasant, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Bob Oxland and family, of Kit- chener, and Mr. and Mrs. Char- les Pulford and family, of Lon- don. Mr. and Mrs, Donald Bedard and family, of Detroit, were visitors with members of their family in Zurich over the week -end. Miss Margaret Deichert, of Kitchener, was a week -end visi- tor with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Deichert. Dr. Bruce Eickmeier, of Hamilton, was a visitor with his parents and other friends in Zurich over the past week -end. Mr. and Mrs. Hilton Truem- ner, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Bill Fuss, of Hensall, visited with relatives and friends in Windsor over the week -end. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Gemm- ing and family, of Rochester, New York, were visitors last week in Zurich with Mrs. Mel- vina Johnston and Mr. and Mrs. Ross Johnston. BIRTHDAY PARTY Family and friends gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hess last week, to cele- brate' the birthday of their son, William, of Woodstock. Al- so present for the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Fin- an, of Sarnia, and Miss Kathleen Hess, of London. WOMEN'S INSTITUTE The next regular meeting of the Zurich Branch of the Wo- men's Institute will be held on Tuesday, December 5, at the Home Economics Rooni of the Zurich Public School. Demon- strations will be made on sew- ing. The committee in charge of the meeting are Miss Newell Geiger, Mrs. William Hay, and Mrs. William Siebert. Recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Ted Steinback were Mr. and Mrs. 1VIorley Witmer, and Mr. and Mrs Ken Witmer, all of Detroit, and Mr. and Mrs. James Hackett and family, of Galt. ZURICH MENNONITE EVANGELISM COMMITTEE DASHWOOD and DISTRICT Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gusso and children, of Guelph, spent last week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Hilton Ford. Mrs. Frederick Weiberg Mrs. Fred Weiberg, the for- mer Flossie Melinda Willert 62, passed away at her lat resid- ence in Stephen Township, Thursday , November 23, following a lengthy illness. Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, (Loreen) Mrs. Lorne Devine, Stephen Township; (Vera), Mrs. Ervin Lotta, Waterloo; five sons, Garnet, Hubert, Gordon, Howard, all of Waterloo; Earl, of Grand Bend; three sisters, Mrs. Adolph Keller, of Hay Township; Mrs. Aaron Reste- mayer and Mrs. Lloyd Rader, of Dashwood; two brothers, Gar- net of Hay Township, and Percy, of Zurich; also eight grandchildren. The body rested at the T. Harry Hoffman funeral home until Sunday, November 26, when the funeral service was conducted by Rev. William Gatz, in Zion Lutheran Church, and interment made in the Lutheran Church cemetery. Pall bearers were, Oscar Mil- ler, Harry Hayter, Lloyd Wil- lert, Vyrne Weido, Harrison, Weigand and Howard Maier. Mrs. Weiberg was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid. Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Rader and family spent Sunday at Waterloo with Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Taylor and family. Mrs. Alma Hoperoft attend- ed the funeral of a relative, Mrs. John Lawrence, in Hunts- ville last week, and visited in Woodbridge. She also attended the funeral of her aunt, Mrs. John Runge, at Clifford, on Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. William Hough and Mr. and Mrs. Urban Pfile spent the American Thanksgiv- ing at Pigeon, Mich., with Mrs. William Schumaker. Trustees Returned The village trustees, Ervin Rader, Cliff Salmon and Har- old Schroeder were returned by acclamation at the nomination meeting held Monday evening. A village water supply and the dump grounds were the main topics of discussion. The dump grounds would not be so much a problem if the people would co-operate. it is to be remembered it is not a town- ship dump. Women's Institute Sewing Course Eleven women completed the sewing short course, "Focus on Finishers," sponsored by the Women's Institute. Mrs. John Rader and Mrs. Eben Weigand were the leaders. The fifth and final meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Ralph Weber. The leaders were each presented a cup and sau- cer by the group. Summary day will be Decem- ber 5, at Clinton, and the group will present a skit and do mod- elling too. All institute members are urged to attend. Bride -elect Feted Miss Joan Guenther, bride of December, was feted at several showers. Misses Anne Koehler and Lynda Tieman were hostesses at the latter's home for a mis- cellaneous shower for the young ladies. Mrs. Bill Mercer, of Exeter, was hostess at her home for a miscellaneous shower for Joan's friends in Exeter. Mrs. Earl Guenther, grand- mother of the bride, was hos- tess at a miscellaneous shower for the aunts and cousins. Mrs. Harold Scott and Mrs. Joe Horner were hostesses at Corbett school for the relatives in the community. The ladies of the Dashwood Birthday club presented Joan with one dozen coffee spoons. Fred Ducharme, and Mrs. Ducharme, celebrat- ed their 58th wedding anniversary last Saturday night, when members of their family gathered to honour them on the occasion. Mr. Ducharme has been corresponding for district newspapers for the past 60 years, and here he is shown jotting down some of his comments, while his wife looks through the pages of their favourite paper. His news ap- pears under the heading of St. Joseph and Drysdale. Quite often in his column Mr. Ducharme likes to reminisce of years gone by, and this creates a great deal of interest among his readers. Deliver Good Cheer The flower committee of the Hensall United Church met on Tuesday and packed and de livered 26 Christmas packages to shut-ins of the church. Mem- bers of the committee are: Mrs. George Thompson, Mrs. Laird Mickle, Mrs. Stanley Mitchell, Mrs. Lorne Chapman, Mrs. Geor- ge Hess, and Mrs. Hugh Mc - Ewan. This is an annual pro- ject of the flower committee. Mrs. W. B. Cross is spending a few days this week with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Don Robinson, in London. Mrs. Ross MacMillan and David, of Kitchener, spent Wed- nesday and Thursday of this week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Laird Mickle. Visitors over the week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Smith were Mrs. Dick McKel- lar, Teddy and David, and George Smith, all of Thedford, Miss Margaret Smith and Rich- ard Tipping, of London.
