Honor Zurich Lady
On 78th Birthday
Mrs, Elizzie Hey, popular
lifelong resident of Zurich, and
currently a patient of Park -
wood Hospital, London, was
tendered a round of birthday
activities, November 15, on the
occasion of her 78th birthday.
First, Mrs. Hey was feted at
a party at Parkwood Hospital
by the Board of Directors and
Administration Staff. Later
she was entertained by a sur-
prise gathering at the home of
her daughter, Mrs, .Margaret
Hooper.
The festival clay was climax-
ed by a birthday dinner, given
in her honour by her daughter,
Mrs. Hooper, at the Glenn Al-
len Restaurant, also attended
by friends, complete with ela-
borate table, and gaily decora-
ted cake.
Besides her many gifts, Mrs.
Hey received a large number
of bouquets, cards, and letters
of best wishes.

News of Dashwood District
Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Beck-
er and• family have rnoved to
Alienford, while Mr. and Mrs.
Hugh Boyle, of Thornhill, have
moved to Dashwood.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Howe, of
London, spent the weekend
with Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Rader
and family.
Ervin Rader and a number
of men from Zurich, spent last
week on a hunting trip in the
Parry Sound district, They
were successful .in getting two
deer.
Family Birthday Dinner
A family dinner was held at
the home of Mr. and Mrs, Leo
Gibson, in honour of the tat-
ter's mother, M r s, William
Eveland, who will celebrate her
80th birthday on Friday, Nov-
ember 24.
Present for the occasion
were: Mr. and Mrs. George
Schmidt, Mrs. Jack Risser, Toni
Lynn and Travis, all of Baden;
Mr. and Mrs. Glen Baker, Don-
na and Brian, Mr. and Mrs.
Norman Eveland and Cindy, all
of London, and Leo Eveland.
Mrs. Tillie Tetreau attended
the funeral of her brother-in-
law, Charles Corner, at Tham-
esville last Wednesday.
Mrs. Tillie Tetreau spent the
weekend with Mr. and Mrs.

The executive of the Varna -
Goshen Branch of the Bible So-
ciety wish to thank all who con-
tributed in the recent canvass.
The treasurer, Mrs. Ernest Pol-
lock, has forwarded $130 to the
head office.

a United Church conferen-
ce in Chatham on Thursday
last.

The bowling banquet was
held in Zion Lutheran Church
basement, Friday, November 17,
with an attendance of 64..
Following a turkey dinner,
crokinole was played, Win-
ners were: Lloyd Rader and
Heidi Schroeder; consolation
winners: Edward Restemayer
and Valerie Gibson.

T h e quarterly Misisonary
meeting was held by Zion Lu-
theran Ladies Aid, Rev. Wil-
liam Gatz dealt with the Mis-
sionary topic, "This is Loving."
Mrs. Lorne Becker read a poem
"In Grandma's Day."
The,. offering for the Christ-
mas meeting will be a special
collection for the Lutheran
Hour, and the Children's Aid.
Group 1 was in charge and ser-
ved lunch.
WSWS Meets
The regular Ladies Aid meet-
ing of the EUB WSWS was held
with the Missionary Education
group in charge and Mrs. Louis
Weigand chairlady. Rev. M. J
James took the topic, "The
church and our community,"
followed by discussion. Mrs.
Letta Taylor read a poem and
Mrs. Howard Klumpp rendered
a solo.
Mrs. Charles Snell, presid-
ent, presided for the business.
A thank you is to be given the
Grand Bend CIeaners for clean-
ing the mission colthing free of
charge. The meeting has been
changed to the first Friday in
the month. The Woodrow Mac-
ke Christmas dinner will be
held December 1,

The annual meeting of the

was held Monday evening with
over 40 members present.

At the meeting of the Hay
Township School Area board
last Wednesday night, the ten-
der of Miss I. Alexander, of
Toronto, for the purchase of SS
14, on the Second Concession,
Hay Township, was accepted.
The price paid for the school
building .and the property on
which it was located was $300.
In other business the board
instructed secretary H. W. Bro-
Itenshire to contact all the
caretakers in the school area,
regarding renewals of .their
contracts for another year.

bdusht rain. A coronet of se-
quins held her shoulder -length
veil and she carried a mauve
orchid and stephanotis on a
white Bible.
Miss Pat Stokes, London, was
maid of honor, and bridesmaids
were Mrs. Hugh Brophey, Lon-
don, and Mrs. Mary Lou Brier,
of London, sister of the groom.
They wore waltz length gowns
of gold brocaded satin.
Robert Hamblin, London, was
groomsman and ushers were
Hugh Brophey, ,brother of the
bride, and Wayne McLellan.
For travelling the bride don-
ned a gold wool dress with
brown and beige accessories
and corsage of bronze 'mums.
