Approved, was a resolution from Seaforth Local calling for the inclusion of licen ced nursing homes under the Ontario Hospital Plan. The convention decided to set up a special committee which would be available to discuss agricultural policies with all political parties even at nolittical conventions if reques- ted. Monday evening delegates at- tended the 10th anniversary banquet. Mr. A. V. Cormack, known as the father of the On- tario Farmers' Union was guest speaker. He traced the pro- gress of the Ontario Farmers' Union since its need was first felt by a small group of Ontar- io Farmers. "Farming is the finest, the purest and most whilesome way of life," he said, ,`You farmers are the cream of the country, but your profession needs pro- tection, and the Ontario Farm- ers' Union can supply it" Greetings were brought from the Ontario Federation of Lab - On Tuesday, Gordon Hill, chairman of the Ontario Farm- ers' Union marketing commit- tee, presented its report which was accepted by the convention. South Huron High School Football TONm Loses Crucial Game To Mitchell Mitchell 14, South Huron 0 over the line to Ahrens climax- ed the march. Some tremendous booting ad- ded two more points for the Mitchell squad early in the four- th quarter. Mitchell Blue Devils chalked up their third victory in four starts in the Perthex Conferen- ce Football League Wednesday, when they downed South Hur- on's Senior Panthers 14-0 on a chilly afternoon. The victory assured Mitchell of no less than a tie for the group honours with Listowel. In their other outing, the Blue De- vils battled to a 7-7 tie with Listowel. Listowel, who still has to play a weak Stratford club, has two wins and a tie. Jimmy Mitchell toed a 28 - yard effort for the first point of the quarter at the five min- ute mark. Ernie Ahrens, a left-footed kicker, then exploded with a 55 - yard punt that soared into the Panthe's end zone for the sec- ond single point of the quarter. Strong Ground Attack Backed by a superb showing from a stone -wall line, Mitchell ran its ground attack to perfec- tion. The line, which averages 200 pounds a man, gave excel- lent protection to their ace quarterback Kenny Warren to engineer his plays. When War- ren did decide to go to the air, he hit his receivers consistantly. South Huron couldn't get their ground or aerial attack un- tracted as an eager Mitchell de- fence unit moved right in on every play to put the old "coun- try rush" on quarterback Steve Kyle. The play started back on the Mitchell 20 when South Huron, on a third down, made a bad snap of the ball for a Mitchell recovery. In two ground plays the pigskin was moved right down to the South Huron three yard line. In the ev- ening there was a Young Peop- les Church Service, in support of the M and M, when they pre- sented the film "Stranger in the House." Hensall firemen were called out Friday afternoon to the farm of Gordon Munn, in Hay Town- ship, to extinguish a tractor fire. Mr. Munn had filled the trac- tor with gasoline from his gas tank and when he started it, the fire resulted. The tractor was badly dam- aged by the fire, and will not be useable until it is repaired. Had the wind been in the wrong direction, the driving shed wo- uld also have caught fire. McNaught Gets Major Defensive half Jimmy East and Tom NcNaught wrapped up the game for the winners late in the fourth quarter when they combined their efforts to spark the Blue Devils second TD drive. After Steve Kyle had comple- ted his second pass of the after- noon to Bill Shaddick to move the ball to the South Huron 40, Jim East grabbed a deflected pass off a South Huron receiver and gallopped all the way to the five yard line before being stopped. After Warren failed on a quarterback sneak through the middle, Tom McNaught drove through the left side of the Pan- ther's line for a major. South Huron lacked two of their stars for the important contest. Dale Turvey, who had scored six touchdowns in three games, missed the contest be- cause of a swollen foot. Ron Diechert, a fine defensive and offensive performer, also mis- sed the contest due to a bad leg. South Huron will travel to Startford on November 1 for a junior -senior doubleheader with the Ramblers. SEAFORTH CAB Phone 411 Call Collect Storm Windows ALUMINUM OR WOOD MADE TO YOUR MEASUREMENT A.
