The Haberers also attended the! homecoming at Western Univer– sity on Saturday night. Mr. Clifford Talbot, of the Bluewater highway, was taken to Victoria Hospital, London. last Wednesday night. in West- lake ambulance. Miss Judy Willert, of Kitch- ener, was a weekend visitor at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Willert. Mr. and Mrs. Milfred Schilbe and Mr. and Mrs. Herb Turk- heim were in Owen Sound on Sunday, where they attended a cabinet meeting of District A-9, of Lions International. Mr, and Mrs. Lloyd Hope and family. of Oshawa, were week- end visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Meyers. Sunday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmore Oesch were: Mr. and Mrs. Jim Monk - house, Thedford, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bosman and family, of Seaforth, Mr, and Mrs. Morris Bosman, Bluevale, and Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Oesch and family. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Klopp and Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Brokenshire spent Sunday visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Haywood, at Oakridge Acres. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gascho and Mrs. Anne Turkheim spent Wednesday in Toronto. Mr. M. T. Corless, of Clinton, the father of Mrs. Kenneth Breakey, Zurich, was taken by Westlake ambulance to Victoria Hospital, London, last Tuesday night Mrs. Pauline Jeffrey of Blake, and her daughter, Mrs. Napol- eon Ducharme, of London, have returned home from Windsor, where they attended the wed- ding of a niece of Mrs. Jeffrey. Mrs. Jeffrey also visited with her son, Lloyd, and daughter, Blanche. Mr. and Mrs. Elgin Merner and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Luft, all of Kitchener, were weekend visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Schilbe. Mr. Emmerson Erb, of the Goshen Line north, was taken to South Huron Hospital, Exe- ter, last Wednesday, suffering from a heart attack. Women's Institute The next regular meeting of the Zurich Branch of the Wo- men's Institute will be held at the home of Mrs. A. M. Ama- cher, on Monday night, Novem- ber '6, at 8:00 p.m. Miss Norma Westgate, rural public health muse, will be guest speaker. She will also show slides on her work at Ak- lavik—on the Mackenzie River, and at Pangnutung, Baffin Is- land, where she was in charge of the mission hospital. Members of the Institute are reminded of the fall executive meeting to be held in Hensall on Monday. On Wednesday, November 8, the Zurich Insti- tute are invited to Hensall. Picking Raspberries Mrs. Lauretta Weido, of Zur- ich, has been picking ripe rasp- berries from her patch for the past few weeks. The berries, which are quite tasty, have been in abundant supply. 0 Obituary Mrs. J. Duc'harme A well-known resident of this district, Mrs. Joseph E. Du- charme, passed away in Victor- ia Hospital, London, on Tuesday, October 31, in her 58th year. She was the former Edna Pearl McClinchey, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. David John McClinchey. Born in Stanley Township on February 17, 1904, the deceas ed was married to Mr. Duchar me, on May 17, 1924. Surviving besides her hus band, are three daughters, Bea trice, Mrs. Harvey Spitzer, De troit; Joan, Mrs, Melvin Roath Windsor; and Carolyn, at home one son, Raymond, RR 1, Dash wood; one brother, Orval Mc Clinchey, RR 1, Varna; and two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Schilbe Exeter, and Mrs. Alice Cook, London. There are also seven grandchildren. One son, Jack, pre -deceased her seven years ago. The body is resting at the Westlake funeral hone, Zurich, until Friday morning, November 3, when removal will be made to St. Boniface RC Church, Zur- ich, where Requiem Mass will be sung at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be made in the adjoining cemetery, with Father C. A. Doyle officiating. Prayers will be sung at the Westlake funer al home on Thursday night, at 8:30 p.m. 0 Joseph Chipchase Joseph Chipchase, of Orwell, Ontario, passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 31 in his 75th year. He came to Canada from Sussex, England, 61 years ago, and since that time has lived in Highgate, Ayl mer and Exeter. Surviving are his wife, the former Nora McConnell; six sons, Ernest, Hensall; William, Aylmer; Jack, Yellowknife, NW T; Gordon, Vancouver, BC; Wal ter and Eric, both of London two daughters, Mrs. Frank (Dorothy) Denome, London, and Mrs. Paul (Mary) Painchaud Aylmer. The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 3 at 2:00 p.m., at the Barnum funeral home, Aylmer, with burial in the Aylmer Cemetery. She's praying for a mir- acle — a cure for muscular dystrophy within her lifetime. Debbie Selmes' prayers may be answered if science is able to find the cure within this decade. The Muscular Dystrophy Association's fund raising drive for research begins Nov- ember 19. WEDDING Smith -Bedard St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, St. Joseph, was the setting on Saturday, October 14, at 10:00 a.m., when Cecile Mari Bedard, St. Joseph, and Gordon Simon Smith, Zurich exchanged marriage vows before Rt. Rev. Msgr. Bourdeau in a double ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Percy Bedard, RR 2, Zurich, and Mr. and Mrs. Adelbert Smith, Zurich, are par- ents of the groom. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown of Chantilly lace and silk net. The bodice was fitted in lace with jewel -trim- med bateau neckline and long lily -point sleeves. The bouf- fant skirt was styled with lace panels from waist to hemline in front and a full tiered back of lace and net. Her bridal hat of lace with pearl trim was com- pleted with a veil of silk illu- sion. She carried a prayer book crested with red roses. Maid of honor was Margaret Smith and bridesmaid, Donna Smith. They wore similar waltz -length turquoise chiffon gowns with bateau neckline, short sleeves and self cummerbunds with large self flowers and long flowing panels falling down the bouffant skirts. They wore matching jewel -trimmed hats and carried nosegays of yellow and white 'mums. Groomsmen were Tony Be- dard and Edward Lesperance. Percy Bedard Jr. and James Smith ushered. Wedding music was played by Mrs. Armond Denomme and mass was sung by St. Mary's school choir. Jerome Sweeney sang solos. The mother of the bride wore a powder blue lace sheath en- semble fashioned with match- ing jacket. She wore beige ac- cessories and a corsage of pink and white baby 'mums. The groom's mother wore a blue sheath with beige and black ac- cessories and pink and white 'mum corasge. The wedding dinner was ser- ved in the Commercial Hotel, Hensall, and supper at the bride's hone. A reception and dance was held in the Zurich Community Centre in the eve- ning. For travelling the bride chose a loden green wool sheath with beige and green accessories and and corsage of yellow and white 'mums and carnations. 0 Steinback-Smith In a quiet wedding ceremony at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Stratford, on Friday, October 27, 1961, at 7:00 p.m., marriage vowes were exchanged by C. Anne Smith and Edgar John Steinback. The brides parents are Mr. and Mrs. Joseph C. Smith, RR 4, Brussels and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Steinback, RR 3, Zurich, are parents of the groom. Rev. C. H. James, Stratford, performed the double ring cere- mony. The bride chose a street leng- th dress of nylon acetate over net and taffeta with a bodice of nylon acetate lace with mat- ching jacket. A coronet comp- limented by seed pearls and ir- ridescent sequins held her fing- er tip veil. She carried a nose- gay of red roses and white step- hanotis. The bride wore a mat- ching set, neckline and earrings a gift of the groom. Miss Cora Smith, RR 4, Brus- sels, was her sisters maid of honour. She wore a street length dress of blue nylon or- ganza with white swiss dot, blue cummerbund a n d matching headdress and carried a nose- gay of pink roses and white stephonotis. Groomsman w a s Douglas Thiel, Zurich, cousin of the groom. The reception was held at the Plaza Restaurant Dining room, Stratford. For travelling to points nor- th, the bride wore a dress of beige nylon lace over taffeta and a loden green coat with black accessories. Celebrates Birthday Mr. Henry Hoffman was pleas- antly surprised when his daugh- ters, Mrs. Mervyn Tieman and Mrs. Ken McCrae, held a sur- prise birthday party in honor of his 86th birthday at the home of Mrs, McCrae. The evening was spent in re- miniscing by the elderly men, after which they all sat down to lunch with the table centred with a large cake and candles. Those present were Thomas Klumpp, Oluf Pederson, L. H. Rader, Louis Restemayer, Bill Mason, William Hey, Reuben Goetz, Ed Nadiger and Earl Guenther. Neighbors Present Gift Neighbors of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Becker gathered at their home last Wednesday ev- ening to say farewell and to present them with a gift. Bunco was played. High pri- ze went to Mrs. Vernon Schatz; consolation winners were, Mrs. Henry Eagleson and Mrs. Ev- erett Haist. Miss Sue Hartman, of Detroit, spent the weekend with Mrs. Lucinda Mcisaac. 0 YOUTH FOR CHRIST Red Harper, commonly known as Mr, Texas in the Billy Gra- ham Films, sang and spoke to a large congregation Sunday afternoon in Seaforth Legion Hall. Coming with him from London and taking part in the service was Jim Blackwood, director of London Youth For Christ. Seaforth rally was spon- sored by South Huron Youth For Christ under direction of Alvin Cudmore, Hensall. Reg Miller, RCAF Station, Centralia, led the song service and Neil Hamilton, president of South Huron District High School Bible Club read the Scripture. The South Huron group are planning further ser- vices for the Seaforth area at a later date.
