South Huron held the 13-0 lead until the fourth quarter when Steve Kyle went over from the one yard line on a quarterback sneak. Mery Tay- lor set the play up by carrying the ball on the option right down to the Stratford one. Backfield Solid South Huron Panthers' back- field along with the line gave a solid 60 minute effort. With quarter Steve Kyle calling the signals, the backfield of Bruce Horton, Mery Taylor, Dale 'Pur- vey and Frank Boyle stood out offensively as they lugged the pigskin mostly on ground at- tacks. South Huron's defensive wall held Stratford off the score - sheet on three tries from ten yards out. Two running plays and a pass attempt failed for the visitors in their strongest attempt to hit the scoresheet. The Blue Devils were held by a stout South Huron line in the first quarter to a 13-13 tie but Mitchell surged ahead 19-13 mid -way through the second quarter. No scoring prevailed in the third, but the winners came back strong in the fourth quarter to outscore South Huron 10-7 and wrap up their first vic- tory of the young season. Bob Parkinson was the big gun for the winners with two touchdowns. After Mery Taylor carried for five, Steve Kyle tossed a 35 yard pass to Dale Turvey who made a sensational grab in the endzone for the major. Kyle converted for the extra point and South Huron went ahead 13-6. However, before the first quarter ended, Parkinson got his first of two and Keith Ah- rens converted to tie it up at 13-13. Mitchell took a 19-13 edge in the second quarter on Parkin- son's second major. The score held until the fourth when Mit- chell added to it on Ahrens field goal, to make it 22.13,.
