RADER, Correspondent) Zion Lutheran Ladies Aid The October meeting of Zion Lutheran Ladies Aid was held Wednesday, October 11, with group 4 and Mrs. Cliff Salmon convener, in charge. Rev. William Gatz dealt with the topic 'Why we should sing hymns in church." The Salmon sisters played an instrumental. Mrs. Milfred Merner, presid- ent, presided for the business. The annual fowl supper for the ladies and their husbands will be held Friday, October 20. The Aid will cater to a dinner for the bowling teams in Nov- ember.. ovember.. Group 4 served lunch follow- ing closing Devotions. Former Dashwod Man Bags Big Moose Gordon Eagleson, of South- ampton, along with four other Bruce County hunters had a very successful opening day. Thirty minutes after the seas- on opened Gordon bagged a' six-year-old 1,500 pound moose with a 54 inch antler spread, the head of which Gordon is having mounted. They also bagged a smaller two-year old. On their return home a tow truck winch was used to hoist the huge animal for picture purposes. They bagged the moose in the Longlac district about 185 miles northwest of Port Arthur, and made the trip by car. On a similar trip last year they did not even see a moose. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Rader, Darlene and L. H. Rader, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Wen- dell Gamble and family, of Lon- don. Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Rader, David, Paul and Sharon, spent Sunday at Waterloo with Mr. and Mrs. Garnet Weiberg and family. Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Devine, Mr. and Mrs. Garnet Willert and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Weiberg, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Weiberg a n d daughter, of Waterloo. Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Stelck, ac- companied Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hey, of Crediton, to Toronto, where they visited Mervyn Stel- ek, who is confined to hospital following a serious car accident. They found him much improv- ed. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. Roy Williams acid saw their great grandson. On the way home they visited. Lloyd's mo- ther, Mrs. Lizzie Hey, who is confined to hospital in London. Mr. and Mrs. Urban Pfile, Mr. and Mrs. William Haugh and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Van Dorsse- laer, spent Sunday at Peters - burgh, with Mr. and Mrs. Clar- ence Knecktel. Friday, October 13, with the spiritual life group and Mrs. Eben Weigand, convener,' in charge, The theme was the Orchids of Thanksgiving and each lady was presented an artificial orchid corsage. Mrs. M. J. James spoke on "Churches for New Times." Mrs. George Link led in prayer. Mrs. Charles Snell, the presi- dent, presided for the business. Librarian Mrs. Sid Baker re- quested the books circulate fas- ter. The ladies will cater to Stephen Township Sunday School convention supper on November 1. Lunch was served by Mrs. Art Haugh, Mrs. Sid Baker, Mrs. Louis ' Weigand and Mrs. Henry Eagleson. Ten dol- Iars was donated to the CNIB. A bus trip to the Royal Winter Fair in November was planned Mrs. Lorne Chapman and Mrs. Blighton Ferg were appointed representatives to South Huron Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. James Bengough submit- ted highlights of the London Area Convention at Masonic Temple, which she attended as a delegate. Members answered the roll call with an exchange of potted plants. The motto, "Buried seed grow, but buried talents never grow," prepared by Mrs. Ian McAllister, was given by Mrs. Lorne Chapman. Miss Suzanne Rannie, accom- panied by her father at the piano sang two lovely solos, and Mrs. Grant MacLean contribu- ted delightful readings. Presi- dent Mrs: Fred Beer presided for the business and Mrs. Walk- er Carlile for the program. Hostesses were Mrs. Grace Harpole and Mrs. Jarvis Horton, program conveners, Mrs. Wes Richardson and Mrs. Walker Carlile. The hall was lovely with a floral background of dalias, 'mums and roses. Delicious re- freshments were served. Special guests at the Novem- ber meeting will be Hurondale 1 and Zurich Institutes.
