'.Ir. and Mrs. Joe Leis, of Kitchener, are spending a few days this week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mose Erb. Mrs. Sol Baechler is a pat- ient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter. Rev. and Mrs. W. P. Fischer are spending a few days in Waterloo, where Rev. Fischer is attending the special lectur- es in connection with the Gol- den Jubilee of Waterloo Sem- inary. He also attended the installation of the Rev. Dr. A. Lotz as president of the Can- ada Synod. Mr. and Mrs. Orval Uller- ick. of London, spent Saturday at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Len Wagner. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Haberer spent a few days last week vis- iting with Mr. and Mrs. Alf Smith, at their summer cottage at Point Clark. Suffers Injuries Mr. Hilton Truemner met with a painful accident last Friday while helping with the beans, He fell hitting his head on the hub of the wagon, and. was taken to the office of Dr. Gulens in Dashwood, where he required 11 stitches to close the wound. Mr. and Mrs. Percy Weido, visitors with relatives and friends in Zurich, Mr. Weido remaining over for a week's vacation. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon How- ald were visitors with rela- tives in Zurich over the week- end. At School Robert L. Prang, son of Mr. and Mrs. Len Prang, Zurich, has began his studies at the Hamilton Institute of Technol- ogy. Tag Day Tag Day for the South Hur- on Hospital will be held in Zurich this Saturday. Gingerich ZURICH — Mrs. Alvin Ging- erich, RR 3, Zurich, passed away suddenly at her residence on the Babylon Line, on Thurs- day, September 21, in her 42nd year. She had just recently re- turned from the hospital, and was improving nicely after suf- fering from a heart ailment. The former Rebecca Eby, she was born in St. Jacobs on April 7, 1920, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Menno R. Eby, She mar- ried Mr. Gingerich in 1948. Surviving besides her parents and her husband are one son, David, at home; one daughter, Mary, at home; two brothers, Ivan Eby, Hawkesville, Milton Eby, Waterloo; and four sisters, Mrs. Howard (Barbara) Weber, Gurnsey, Saskatchewan; Mrs. Orville (Almeda) Martin, Ilawk- esville; Mrs. Nelson (Lavina) Weber, Conestoga, and Mrs. Bretton (Luella) Synder, of Wa- terloo. The body rested a the West lake funeral home, Zurich, until j Sunday, September 24, when re moval was made to the Zurich Mennonite Church, where the funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. Interment was made in the Mennonite Cemetery, Gosh- en Line. O'BRIENS PRODUCE PHONE 101— ZURICH MARRIED 60 YEARS AGO ZURICH — Mr. and Mrs. Hen- ry Steinback, of Zurich, cel- brated their both Diamond Wed- ding Anniversary on Sunday, with a family dinner at the Do- minion Hotel, followed by an open house to their relatives and friends. A highlight of the occasion for the couple was the personal visit of C. S. Mac - Naughton, MPP for Huron, and Mrs. MacNaughton. Mr, Mac - Naughton presented the couple with a framed certificate from the Province of Ontario. A tel- egram of congratutions was also received from Premier Leslie M. Frost, of Ontario. Mr. and Mrs. Steinback were married on September 25, 1901, at the home of the bride's par- ents, on the Parr Line. Mrs. Steinback is the former Mary J. Reichert, and her bridesmaid for the marriage was her sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Richardson. Hart- man Steinback, a brother of the groom, was best man. The cere- mony was performed by Rev. E. Schuelke. Both Mr. and 'Mrs. Steinback are quite active for their age. He is 88 years old, while Mrs. Steinback is 82. After their marriage, they farmed on the 14th concession of Hay Town- ship for a number of years, be- fore moving to Zurich in 1927. Since that time, before retiring some years ago, Mr. Steinback had worked at the carpenter trade, as well as being road sup - hooked wool rags rug, Violet Decker, Mrs. Jack Turkheim.
