Hensall Man Back
Home From Trip
To Native Holland
(By our Hensall correspondent)
Mr. Sim Roobol returned
home by jet Op. Friday after a
three week's vacation with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Roo -
bol, of Rotterdam, Holland, and
his five sisters and one brother,
after an absence of 14 years. His
mother, 83, and his father, 84,
are in good health and it was
a joyful reunion,
He also visited with his wife
who has been vacationing with
her family at Oud-Beyerlend
Holland. The return trip of
3,150 miles from Amsterdam,
Holland, to Montreal, took sev-
en hours, flying 35,000 feet over
the ocean above the clouds, with
125 passengers and a crew of
ten. Each passenger was allow-
ed 44 pounds of luggage and the
jet also carried bags of mail.
Mr. Roobol found many chan-
ges in Holland, many buildings
have been erected, some eight
stories high, food was expens-
ive and wages high. There are
lovely homes and people are
well dressed. During his vaca-
tion he enjoyed just two fine
days, the rest of the time it
rained. During his visit he
visited Rotterdam, Gouda, Hage,
Gorcum and Oud-Beyerland. Mr.
Roobol related that while he
and Mrs. Roobol were return-
ing from a tour Mrs, Roobol
left her camera hanging on the
wash basin in a ladies rest
room.. She did not discover her
loss until hours later while eat-
ing in a restaurant 20 miles
away. Receiving no replies to
telephone calls, they motored
back the 25 miles and the cam-
era was still hanging on the
wash basin.
Mrs. Roobol, who is sailing
home by boat, arrives here on
September 2.
