Malcolm Davidson, Brucefield
(Stanley Township) and Ross
Fisher, Colborne, deserve spec-
ial mention as they tied for the
$25 in prizes for the two top
canvassers. Just goes to show
that it can be done. We hope
that all the townships reach
their objectives when the next
canvass is organized for early
October.
Over $42,000 has been raised
in Huron, wheret he objective
set is $106,000.
Many years ago I did my work
with horses. Sometimes, in the
hurry to get the work done, the
load got a little bigger than it
should and perhaps there was a
soft spot on the road to the
barn. It was too much to ask
of the team but they dug in
their toes and the load arrived
at the barn.
A similar situation developed
:In the FAME canvass in Huron
County. When the dates were
arranged for the shares sales
drive for Farmers' Allied Meat
Enterprises Co-operative Ltd.,
it was expected that haying
would be over for a couple of
weeks before harvest started.
The weatherman didn't see th-
ings that way, so haying drag-
ged on until the harvest was
waiting.
However, many canvassers
just dug in their toes. Their
efforts were successful. In three
days of the campaign some $12,-
000
12;000 in FAME shares were pur-

Nigerian Officials
Impressed With
General Coach
The West Nigerian delegation
which toured General Coach
Works of Canada Ltd. plant at
Hensall last Wednesday, appear-
ed impressed with the quality
of the manufacturing, according
to plant officials who accomp-
anied them.
They remained about three
hours at the plant, toured the
assembly line, talked with a
number of the employees and
viewed sketches and photos of
a number of the industrial units
produced by General Coach.
No sales contract was nego-
tiated. Officials described the
tour as more of an "explora-
tory visit."
General Coach officials indi-
cated they were impressed with
the good manners and excel-
lent English displayed by the
government and business repre-
sentative in the delegation. Res-
ident Sales Manager Fred
Broadley described them as
"exceptionally well educated"
persons.
The delegation visited the
Hensall plant in the morning,
were entertained to luncheon
at the Hotel London, and then
flew to Toronto to be guests of
the Bank of Montreal Thurs-
day. General Manager W. C.
Smith accompanied them to
Toronto.
The General officials found
the men rather cautious about
discussing their own political
and government problems al-
though they assured the Canad-
ians that Nigeria was settling
down well to its independence,
gained about a year ago.
