Captain and Mrs. Ralph Joyce of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, and Mrs. Helen Joyce, of Lorain, Ohio, spent a week with their counsins, Mr, and Mrs. Urban Pfile and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Greb. Truemner spent a few days in Hensall last week with his cous- ins and aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. William Fuss and Linda and Kathy. Eldon Bullock has returned to the home of his parents, Mri. and Mrs. George Bullock, on the Bronson Line, after spending a week with Mr. and. Mrs. Rus- sell Thompson, in Lucan. Mrs. Mary Hildebrandt, of Seaforth, spent the weekend with relatives in Zurich. Sunday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Newell Geiger were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Koeh- ler, of Toronto, Mrs. Nancy Koehler, Zurich, and Miss Dian- ne Koehler, of Hensall. Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Harris, of Toronto, were weekend visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. An- drew Thiel. Mrs. Charles Carr, who has been spending several weeks with her mother, Mrs. Anne Turkheim, left with her hus- band and children on Monday for their new home in the state of Oregon. Mr. and Mrs. William Hay, Bonnie and Greg Banko, spent the weekend in London with the children's mother, Mrs. Myr- tle Banko. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Weido are enjoying a week's vacation in the northern parts of Ontario. ,\ Rev. and Mrs. W. P. Fischer) and family are spending a coup- le week's vacation at Pt. Elgin. Miss Sandra Desjardine is spending a week vacation at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Love, on the Parr Line. Family Gathering All the children of Mrs. Anne Turkheim, Zurich, and their families, gathered on Sunday for a family get-together, mark- ing the first time in about 20 years that the entire family was all home at one time. Present for the occasion was Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Neve, of Los Ang- eles, California; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Batstone, Richmond Hill; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bowden, Toronto; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Carr, of Oregon; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gascho, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Turkheim and Mr. and Mrs. Herb Turkheim, all of Zurich. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Koehler, Marlene, Norman and Susan, of Toronto, and Miss Dianne Koeh- ler, of Hensall, were visiting over the weekend with Mrs. Nancy Koehler. Among those who attended the funeral of the late Arthur Robinson at Mitchell were Mr. and Mrs. George Thiel, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Thiel, Mr. and Mrs, Charles Thiel, and Mr. Pe- ter Deichert. John Bullock, accompanied by Harvey and Ray Bierling, of Dashwood, motored to Algon- quin Park on Saturday, spend- ing the weekend in the north- ern parts. Mr. and Mrs. Michael Hart- man, of Trenton, are spending a vacation with members of their family in Zurich. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Wilhelm, of Shakespeare, were Sunday viistors with Mr. and Mrs. Herb Desjardine. Mr. and Mrs. Karl Haberer, Mr. and Mrs. George Thiel, and Mrs. Alice Thiel were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Ste- wart Mitchell, at Strathroy. Wayne Txuemner spent last week in Exeter vicinity with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Rundle and Allan. Donny ST. JOSEPH and DRYSDALE LAL. FRED DUCHARME, Correspondent\ Mrs. George Fouville and years, but, due to two of their children, of Detroit, spent a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Masse, of the Blue Water south, where they are spending their summer vacat- ion. Mr. and Mrs. Frank • Ryder and family, of London, • were weekend visitors with the lat- ter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Bedard. Mr. Gerard Geoffroi, of Wal- erton, has returned to his home after spending two weeks in St. Joseph with his mother and other members of the family. While here his time was taken up working around the house. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Dietrich, who have spent part of the va- cation in this neighbourhood, motored to Windsor where they visited with relatives in that city. Mr. and Mrs. Abel Ducharme, of Toronto, after spending some of their holidays in the States, on their return called on rela- tives in this community before returning to their Toronto home. Mr. Harry Denomme, of Win- dsor, called on the Ducharmes on Saturday last, enroute to Goderich. Mrs. Margerite Masse, of De- troit, and Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Scully and children, of Mount Clements, Michigan, called on Mr. and Mrs. F. Ducharme and also other relatives on Sunday last. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wilds, of the 15th concession, motor- ed to London on Thursday last on a business trip. Mr. Benedict Bedard, of Win- dsor, was a visitor to his par- ents the past weekend. Nevertheless, if God wills, they are hoping to get their family together in five years hence and celebrate their golden wedding. Mr. Sopha took his bride of 45 years ago and took the day off motoring through the coun- try viewing and meeting old time fish customers on their route, which Mr. Sopha has tra- velled on nearly 50 years, both by horse drawn vehicle and au- tomobile. The couple arrived in Seaforth in the early evening where the Commercial Hotel had prepared a very tasty meal for the Sophas. It was in the late hours of the evening when they returned to their home on this highway. Both very much enjoyed their anniversary and also both enjoyed the country outing. Local Girl Married On Saturday, August 5, a very beautiful wedding ceremony took place in St. Peter's Church, St. Joseph, when Betty Ann Du- charme, daughter of Mrs. Irene Flannigan and the late Nelson Ducharme, of Drysdale, and Jer- ome Jeffrey, of Zurich, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Jeffrey, were married in the midst of a large attendance. The ceremony was performed by Father Bed- ard, an uncle of the groom. The wedding dinner was ser- ved in the Dominion Hotel, Zur- ich, where all partook to satis- fy their taste. The Parish Priest and others were in atten- dance. After dinner priests and others took part in the pro- gram of the occasion; each had their little joke as is customary for such an occasion and it be- came very interesting to all. In the afternoon the young couple and guests motored to the bride's home in Drysdale, where all enjoyed themselves in an oldtime fashion, singing, chat- ting and dancing. In the even- ing the public reception was held in Zurich. The young couple were recip- ients of many valuable gifts which will be appreciated by them to start their new life. After their honeymoon they will reside in Zurich, and will bring with them memories of their wedding day and with it many good wishes. A daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Heideman, she was born in Zurich 76 years ago. She leaves to mourn a daugh- ter, Virginia Cunningham; and a son, Vernon, of California; a brother, Henry Heideman, of Pinckney, Mich.; and a sister, Emma L. Happel, of Jackson, Mich. There are also six grand- cildren.
