Ross MacDonald, who has ben called to Hensall Pres- byterian Church, arrived here by car on Saturday. After completing high school Mr. MacDonald attended Prov- incial Normal College in Truro, N.S., and taught school for three years. He graduated in arts from Dalhousie University, Hal- ifax, N.S., and in theology from OBITUARY William Buchanan William Buchanan, Hensall, 82, died on Tuesday, August 8, in Clinton Public Hospital where he had been a patient for the past four months. He was born in Tuckersmith, where he farmed making his home in Hensall. He was a member United Church. Surviving are one son, Keith Buchanan, Hensall; three sis- ters, Miss Margaret Buchanan, and (Jessie) Mrs. George Arm- strong, Hensall; Miss Mary Buchanan, Toronto; one broth- er, Samuel Buchanan, . Hensall, and four grandsons. His wife, the former Ethel Fulton, died. 41 years ago. The body rested at the Bon- thron funeral chapel where pub- lic service was held Thursday, August 10, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Currie Winlaw officiating. Bur- ial was in Hensall Union Ceme- tery. of Hensall Presbyterian College, Montreal.' He was minister of St. David's Presbyterian Church, Springhill, N.S.. since 1958 and was there during the mine disaster in which 75 men were kill$d. Mrs. MacDonald, the `former Nancy Seaton, is a graduate nurse of Brockville General Hospital. They have two chil- dren, Ruth Anne two and a half years old and David Allan, 13 months. They will spend a week or two in Brockville at Mrs. Mac - Donald's parents' home before taking up residence in Hensall. On September 8 the Huron - Maitland Presbytery will . in- duct Mr. MacDonald into Car- mel Presbyterian Church, Hen- sall. He will begin his services on September 10. though Regina, Saskatoon, Win- nipeg and on to Fort William and Port Arthur. From there they drove a- round the northern shore of Lake Superior and Sault Ste Marie, then down into Manitou- lin Island where they spent three days at Little Current, touring the island and fishing. They crossed over to Tobermory by boat from South Baymouth, taking three hours, then on home. It was the first time Mr, and Mrs. Mickle had ever been West and report a fine trip, and ex- cellent highways nearly all the way. They spent three days in Edmonton and two in Brandon, and also went Seven -Leaf Clover Harold Parker, Hensall, has found a seven -leaf clover and August should be his lucky month. He reported multi -leaf clov- ers in abundance and said that there were literally hundreds of four-leaf clovers in the patch from which he selected the seven-leafer. Yes, the father steeled himself against coming catricide. At this point, a new charac- ter enters our story. The boy in this family had a birthday coming up. The lady, in anoth- er of those mental somersaults, decided they'd surpise him with a pup. The mystery of birth is no longer a mystery to them. There's no moral to this story. But I couldn't help thinking, when I was home last weekend, that it was rather odd for my wife, who hated pets for years, to be dancing attendance on two children, a self-satisfied cat, die. Sex, male. I think.
