have returned home after spen-
ding a week's vacation in Cal-
gary with members of their
family. The Raders flew out
west on a jet airliner.
Mrs. Henry Clausius is at
present a patient in South Hur-
on Hospital, Exeter.

meeting Wednesday evening, ,
opening and closing the lodge,

was acting Noble Grand and
Mrs. Glenn Bell Jr PNG was ac -1
ting as Vice -Grand.

was an honored guest at the
meeting and took the chair of
the LSNG. The other chairs were
occupied by Past Noble Grands.
Mrs. Ernest Chipchase. NG,
presided for the business. Mrs.
A. R. Orr VG, reporting for the ,
visiting committee. Mrs. Alex
McBeath and Mrs. Ed Corbett
reported for the finance com-
mittee. The semiannual report
was submitted by the treasurer,
Mrs. Archie MacGregor. Mem-
bers who have sold tickets for
the CPT committee are asked
to bring them to the next meet-
ing or contact Mrs. William
Parker. Decoration services will
be held June 18, and the inaug-
ural meeting June 22. Arrange-
ments were made for the annual
IOOF and Rebekah picnic to be
held in the local park on June
27, with supper at 5:00 o'clock.
Following the business, Mrs.
Hugh McEwen and Mrs. Alex.
McBeath led in a singsong with
Mrs. William Fuss at the piano.
Contests were conducted by Mrs.
William Caldwell and Mrs. Inez
McEwen. A dutch auction fol-
lowed when prizes were won by
Mrs. William Fuss and Mrs. Ro-
bert Elgie.

About $300 damage was caus-
ed to a car driven by John
Negryn, of Exeter, last Satur-
day noon, when he ran into a
deer in front of Tieman's rest-
aurant, at Bayfield.

The Evening Auxiliary of the
Hensall United Church met
Monday evening, June 12, for
their monthly meeting with Mrs.
Ron Mock presiding, who wel-
comed the members and guests.
Mrs. Don Joynt took the devot-
ional with the theme, "Our Re-
sponsibilities to Society." Scrip-
ture passages were read by Mrs.
Joynt and prayer offered by
Mrs. Douglas Cook who also
gave the study, reviewing the
last chapter of the study book
"The Turning World"—Unity
Begins At Home."
Mrs. Clare McBride and Bob
Forrest rendered several de-
lightful trumpet duets, which
were much enjoyed.
Plans were discussed for a
bazaar ,tea, and bake sale in the
fall. Mrs. Byran Kyle reported
for the visiting committee and
Mrs. John Heal gave the treas-
urer's report. Mrs. C. Christie
showed a film "We are all Bro-
thers." and Mrs. Edison Forrest
also showed pictures on "Mexi-
co" taken by Miss Mildred For-
rest. Hostesses were Mrs, Dave
Kyle and Mrs. Byran Kyle.

Ladies Nite At
Local C. of C.
Members of the Zurich and
District Chamber of Commerce
entertained their wives at the
annual Ladies Nite Banquet, last
Thursday night in the Zurich
Community Centre. The din-
ner was followed by a short pro-
gram and entertainment.
Master of ceremonies for the
event was J. E. Bannister, vice-
president of the local organiza-
tion. The toast to the ladies
was proposed by Jack Pearson,
and the reply for the ladies was
made by Mrs. Carl Decker.
Entertainment for the occas-
ion was provided by Mr. and
Mrs. Roy Head, of London, who
thrilled the gathering with their
tricks of magic and other num-
bers.
The Catholic Women's Leag-
ue of St. Boniface Church, Zur-
ich catered for the event.

Baskets of lilacs and tulips,
fern and candles, formed a flor-
al background in Thames Road
United Church, on Saturday,
June 3, for the marriage of Mar-
garet Ann Webber, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Leeland Weber,
RR 1, Hensall, and James Gor-
don McCarter, son of Mr. and
Mrs. James McCarter, RR 1, Cen-
thralia. Rev. Hugh C. Wilson
performed the ceremony and
Miss Agnes Bray, RR 1, Kirk -
ton, provided wedding music
and accompanied the soloist,
Mrs. William Cann, RR 1, Hen-
sall, who sang "Because" and
"Wedding Prayer."
Given in marriage by her fa-
ther the bride wore a waltz len-
gth gown of white net over sa-
tin with lace bodice and full
skirt. Her finger tip veil was
held by a crown of seed pearls.
She carried a white Bible cen-
tered with a gardenia and
streamers of red roses.
Bridal attendants, Miss Mar-
lene McBride, Exeter, maid of
honor; Miss Barbara Webber,
her sister, and Miss Betty Par-
ker, Hensall, as bridesmaids;
and Miss Marlene Webber as
junior bridesmaid, were gown-
ed alike in blue net over satin
with lace bodices and full skirts
in waltz -length. They carried
cascades of blue mums.
Kenneth and Laverne McCar-
ter attended their brother as
groomsman and Wayne Rowe
and Charles McCarter ushered.
A reception was held in the
church parlours, the bride's mo-
ther receiving in a two-piece
pale blue shantung ensemble
with white accessories and cor-
sage of red roses. The groom's
mother chose a two-piece blue
brocaded satin with accessories
in white and pink rose corsage.
Serving were Nancy Webber,
Varna; Carolyn Oke and Marian
May, London; and Ruth Ann
Carter, Toronto.
For travelling to the United
States the bride changed to a
pale green suit with beige ac-
cessories and corsage of yellow
roses. They will reside near
Exeter. Guest were present
from Exeter, Varna, Toronto,
Erindale and Detroit.

The Senior WMS of Carmel
Presbyterian Church , Hensall,
held their 71st birthday party in
the church schoolroom Monday
evening, June 12, with ladies of
Caven Church, Exeter, Zurich
Lutheran, St. Paul's Anglican,
Hensall United, and The Arnold
Circle, as guests.
Mrs. Earl Campbell, president,
was in charge. The devotional
theme "Carry The Torch" was
carried out by Mrs. Earl Camp-
bell and Miss Hannah. Murray,
assisted by Mrs. Percy Campbell
and Mrs. Harvey Hyde. Mrs.
Ed. Munn presided at the
piano.
Mrs. George •Lamont, Mitch-
ell, guest speaker, spoke on the
Three L's, Love, Life and Laugh-
ter," pointing out we can live
life to its fullest if we practise
Christian Love and look on the
bright side. She was introduced
by Mrs. Malcolm Dougall and
thanked by Mrs. Sam Dougall.
Mrs. John Girot, of Exeter,
favoured with a solo, "Nearer
My God To Thee," a verse sung
in English', Spanish and French,
accompanied by Mrs. Harry
Strang at the piano. A social
hour and lunch followed under
the direction of Mrs. Malcolm
Dougall, Mrs. Clarence Volland
and Mrs. Percy Campbell.
A two-tier birthday cake was
cut by Mrs. R. Y. McLaren.
Mrs. Alex McGregor and Mrs.
Archie Hoggarth were in charge
of the decorations. Reception
committee were Mrs. Sam Doug
all and Mrs. Earl Campbell.

Destroy Weeds
NOTICE is hereby given to all persons in possession of
land, in accordance with the WEED CONTROL ACT, 1960,
Sec. 3, 13 and 19, that unless noxious weeds growing on their
lands within the Municipality of the Township of Stanley
are destroyed by June 30, 1961, and throughout the season,
the Municipality may enter upon the said lands and have the
weeds destroyed, charging the costs against the land in
taxes, as set out in the Act.
