Zurich Citizens News, 1961-06-15, Page 3THURSDAY, JUNE 15, 1961 ZURICH CITIZENS NEWS PAGE THREE The Readers Write Letters to Editor Zurich Citizens News, Zurich, Ontario, DEAR SIR: To those who just didn't bo- ther to go to Dr. Klahsen, may- be you had that old fashion idea that he didn't know your past illness. Well, my answer to that is that a ten minute talk to the doctor and he would of known everything there was to know. To the young mothers, taking my children to Dr. Klahsen was a joy ride for them. I'm sure that proves how good he is to children. He gives real good prenatal care and when it is time to deliver your baby, he is by your side from the time you needed him until long after the baby is born. He is young and energetic, so he does not look tired out when he's taking care of you. How would you like to be in severe pains and have to wait hours for a doctor to come when within minutes Dr. Kalhsen would be by your side. A nice home in the quiet part of town would be ideal. He does not want charity, just a chance to prove how helpful he is. Thank you, Doctor, for the service you rendered me so far. BECKER & SONS PHONE 60W -- DASHWOOD children, because father was too busy clearing the back forty to speak to them during the day, and too tired to do anything but fall into bed at night. :k k * After a few generations of this, it was natural for the children to look upon the moth- er as the fountainhead of wis- dom, sympathy and human war- mth. During the same genera- tions, the father faded into a figure who appeared only at meal -times and whose chief con- versational item became, "We can't afford it." :k :k * The entire process was speed- ed up by two world wars. While our men were off in Europe, fighting and revelling in a soc- iety in which the male was sup- reme, our women had to take on more and more responsibili- ty. Whole generations of child- ren got the idea that Mom was head of the family, simply be- cause Dad was not there. There was no stopping the snowball. .After the first world 4 BLAKE (Mrs. Amos Gingerich, correspondent) Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Ginger- ich, of Zurich, accompaned by Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Erb and war, our women started smok- ing. After the second, they be- gan going into bars. They have infiltrated the golf course, the curling rink, the House of Com- mons and the stock market. They have learned to swear, wear trousers and make speech- es. And the end is nowhere in sight. * * * I'm not complaining. It was inevitable — an accident of history. All I'm doing is trying to explain to you fellows why despite the fact that your wife got a new wristwatch on Moth- er's Day, you are going to wind up, on Father's Day, with the usual $1.50 tie, for the purchase of which the kids will tap you for $2.00 and keep the change.
