Look Out For
Spring Salesmen
Spring bring more than just
April showers and May flowers.
It also brings strangers to your
door selling doubtful services.
Keep your eyes peeled if you
don't want to be swindled.
Here's what already has hap-
pened in a nearby town:
A couple of men offered to
fertilize a lawn for just five
cents a foot. The lot was just
40 by 100 feet but the lady did
not figure it out because it
sounded like a bargain. It cost
$200. Later she learned the
`fertilizer" was just sand and
water.
Another pair offered to make
the asphalt driveway as good as
new. They put on old crank-
case oil. A "nurseryman" plant -

ed shrubs that did not grow
because they were discards with
no decent roots.
Most people have heard of the
wandering repair men who fix
chimneys and roofs that don't
need fixing and then collect all
they can get. Some of them are
now in jail.
Obviously, it is far better to
buy at home. Zurich and other
towns around have plenty of
honest workmen. After the
job is done, you know where to
find them.
The late Mrs. Jacobs was in
her 90th year. About a year
ago she fell and broke her hip
and has since been in a nursing
home. Prior to that time she
lived with her nephew, Lindsay
Wurm.
Memorial service was held on
Wednesday, May 10.
Lindsay Wurm, known to
many of this village, as he liv-
ed here while attending public
school, met with a very bad ac-
cident about eight months ago.
His left hand was crushed and
his leg broken in six places. He
was hosiptalized for four mon-
ths, and since then has been
convalescing at home, with his
leg still in a cast.
