INDIVIDUAL WINNERS — These two ladies were winners
of individual trophies in the Zurich Ladies Bowling League, which
has just completed a successful season. On the left is Shirley
Tiernan, of Dashwood, who won the trophy for the season's high
average, with a score of 175, and on the right is Ruth Decker, of
Zurich, who won •the season's high single score, with 324 points.

Honour Bride -Elect
Miss Elaine Schade, bride -elect,
was entertained at a miscellaneous
shower, sponsored by 11rs. Erwin
Schade, Dashwood and Miss Thel-
ma Weber and Mel ina Schade, of
London, at the latter's home on
Monday evening, April 24.
Carole Schade read the address
and the gifts were presented by
Mona Schade and Shelly Weber.
After the gifts were opened Elaine
thanked everyone a n d invited
them to her trousseau tea on May
13.

A By-law to raise $180,000.00 to
aid in the construction of tile,
stone, or timber drains.
The Council of the Township
of Hay, pursuant to the Tile Drain-
age Act, enacts as follows:
1. That the Reeve may from
time,subject to the
time topro-
visions
J
visions of this By-law, borrow on
the credit of the Corporation of
the Municipality, such sum not ex-
ceeding in the whole $180,000.00
as may be determined by the
Council, and may in a manner
hereinafter provided, issue deben-
tures of the Corporation in such
sums as the Council may deem
proper for the amount so borrow-
ed, with coupons attached as pro-
vided in section 4 of the said Act.
2. That, subject to section 10
of the Tile Drainage Act, when the
Council is of the opinion that the
application of any person to bor-
row money for the purpose of con-
structing tile, stone, or timber
drain should be granted in whole
or in part, the Council may, by
resolution, direct the Reeve to is-
sue debentures as aforesaid and
to borrow a sum not exceeding
the amount applied for, and may
lend the same to the applicant on
the completion of the drainage
work.
3. A special rate shall be im-
posed, levied and collected over
and above all other rates upon the
land in respect of which the mon-
ey is borrowed, sufficient for the
amount of the principal and in-
terest as provided by the Act.

this 8th day of June 1960.
Read a third time and passed
this 1st day of May, 1961.

true copy of a by-law passed by
the Council of the Township of
Hay on the 1st day of May, 1961,
and all persons are required to
take notice that anyone who de-
sires to apply to have the By-law
or any part thereof quashed must
serve notice of his application
upon the Head or Clerk of this
Municipality within 20 days after
the date of the last publication of
this notice, and must make his
application to the Supreme Court
of Ontario within one month after
the said date. This notice was
first published on the 4th day of
May, 1961, and the last publication
will be on 18th day of May, 1961.

Evangelical UB Church, Zurich
was the setting for the ceremony
when wedding vows were exchan-
ged by Mary Evelyn Grainger and
Richard Allan Erb, on Saturday,
May 6, at 2 o'clock.
The bride is the daughter of l.VIr.
and Mrs. Russell Grainger, RR 2,
Zurich, and the groom's parents are
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Erb, RR 1,
Zurich.
Rev. A. M. Amacher performed
the double ring ceremony and Miss
Ann Westlake and Miss Louise
Talbot sang, "0 Promise me," and
"0 Perfect Love," accompanied by
Mrs. Amacher on the organ.
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride was lovely in a floor len-
gth gown of Chantilly lace and
nylon organza, accented with lace
motifs. The fitted bodice was
styled with long lily point sleeves
and sabrina neckline. The full
bouffant skirt swept to a brush
train. A headdress of pearls and
sequins held her elbow -length veil
and she carried a bouquet of white
and red carnations.
1\1r1. rdward Deichert, sister of
the bride, was matron of honor.
She wore a street -length dress of
aqua lace over taffetta, fashioned
with a 3 -tiered full•skirt, taffetta
cumberbund and square neckline,
white headdress with over the face
veiling, white gloves and shoes,
Mrs. Douglas Dick, sister of the
groom, and Miss Helen Grainger,
sister of the bride, were brides-
maids and wore dresses identical
to that of the matron of honour.
They carried a bouquet of white
carnations.
John Erb was groomsman. for his
brother and guests were ushered by
Edward. Deichert, Scarborough,
brother-in-law of the bride, and
Douglas Dick, Exeter, brother-in-
law of the groom.
Miss Cathryn Grainger, sister of
the bride, was flower -girl, gowned
in a floor -length dress of white Or-
ganza over taffetta with dainty lace
trim- She carried a .small bouquet
similar to that of the bride. Garry
Koehler, cousin of the groom, was
ring bearer.
Following the ceremony a wed-
ding dinner was served in the chur-
ch basement by Joyce Hamilton,
Barbara Grainger, Joan Gingerich,
Charlene Scotchmer, Phyllis Scha-
de, Rebecca Steckle, Mrs• Raymond
Scotchmer, and Mrs. Earl Horner.
The bride's mother chose a

sheath dress of S+aconne sheer in
beige, tone on tone with green ac-
cessories and wore a corsage of
pink carnations. The groom's
mother chose a dress of nile green
chiffon over floral taffeta and
white accessories, and she wore a
corsage of pink carnations.
Mr. Nelson Tiernan, Bayfield,
proposed the toast to the bride.
For travelling the bride changed
to a turquoise silk Organza sheath
with white accessories. Following
a trip to Northern Ontario, they
will reside on the groom's farm,
RE 1, Zurich. The bride is on the
staff of the Bank of Montreal, in
Exeter.
