deputy - reeve of Stephen, Mrs.

ter, attended The Good Roads Con-
vention at the Royal York Hotel,
Toronto, last week.
Music Results
At recent exams of the Royal
Conservatory of Music of Toronto,
held in London, the following pu-
pils of Miss Idella Gabel, ARCT,
were successful:
Grade V, piano, Mary Anne Hay-
ter, first class honours; (She was
highest of ten candidates in this
grade); Mary Ellen Thiel, honours;
Grade II, Theory, first class hon-
ours, Sharon Hugill and Cheryl
Stade; .Richard Stade, honours.
Mr, Edwin Martene underwent
surgery Wednesday morning at St.
Joseph's Hospital, London.
Mr. Herb Gaiser, of Dearborn,
Mich., spent some time with his
brother, Chester.
Mrs. Matilda Piefer has returned
home after spending the winter
months at Chatham,with her sons,
Jack and Earl, and their families,
Mr. and Mrs. Glen Brown, of Kit-
chener, visited with Mr. William
Wein on Sunday.
Dashwood Merry Maids
The fourth meeting of the Dash-
wood 4-H girls was held at the
home of Norma. Weigand, with the
leaders, Mrs, Leonard Schenk, Mrs.
Eben Weigand, and 13 girls present
The girls worked on alterations of
the bodice and learned how to un-
derstitel a hem. They finished
cutting dresses,
The next meeting is ,Thursday,
March 16, at the home of Mary
Visscher.

my dress; Home assignment, work
on record books, work on dress, and
be prepared for a fitting if possible.

WILBUR SHANTZ
A popular employee of the Wa-
terloo Cattle Breeding Association,
has been appointed to the newly
created position of "Supervisor of
Production and Service." Mr.
Shantz is 33, married, father of
three, and a native of Waterloo
County. He began his A.I. career
in April of 1952, taking a position
as a technician at Waterloo. Since
that time he has performed his
duties ina manner which two years
ago prompted the management to
promote him to the position of re-
lief man and last year to that of
Field Supervisor. Wilbur is also
intrested in community affairs and
is active in church work and Home
and School Activities.
DONALD FORTUNE PROMOTED
Donald Fortune, an employee of
the Waterloo Cattle Breeding As-
sociation has been promoted to the
new office of "Supervisor of Infor-
mation." Don is 26 years of age
and a native of Huron County. He
farmed in partnership with his
father for five years. They had re-
gistered Holstein cows and Here-
ford feeder steers. He has served
as a technician in the Formosa dis-
trict. He received his "Association
Diploma in Agriculture" at the On-
tario Agricultural College in 1953.
He took animal husbandry as his
option. He stood in the top quar-
ter of his class in both years at
college.
Don is a valued member of his
community having served as calf
club leader for five years, director
in Howick Agricultural Society and
Director in Turnberry Federation
of Agriculture. He is married and
has two sons and two daughters.
Donald will be doing relief in-
semination work, act as editor of
the "Better Bovine Bulletin", and
general member and employee in-
formation. He and his family will
be moving to the Waterloo area
later this year.
This reorganization of respons-
ibility has been necessitated by the
resignation of Assistant Manager,
Joe G. Snyder. Joe has accepted a
position as fieldman for the Hol-
stein Friesian Association of Can-
ada in the West Central Ontario
District, as successor to George P.
Drennan, who has reached retire-
ment age.
