Last year the Ontario Society for Crippled Children, whose only an- nual appeal for fiends is made dur- ing the Easter Seal campaign by by 226 service clubs, carried out its biggest programme in all its history. This year the number of crippled children have greatly in- creased because Ontario's swiftly growing population means hund- reds of new cases each year. No one knocks at your door to sell you Easter Seals. The entire campaign—the message of hope and opportunity for crippled chil- dren—is put squarely to you in a letter. You are asked to read it and if you think the cause worthy enough, return your contribution in the pink envelope. The organization that cares for this great number of children is amazingly small. A tightly knit of- fice staff at headquarters in Toron- to, a score of highly trained nurses, a corps of volunteer doctors and an army of public spirited citizens, who give freely of their time. The result is a volume of service out of all proportion to the money spent in the work. This work takes several forms. There is nursing service, made up of 27 graduate nurses, each of whom has taken a special post -grad - UO - IT - NOM And Save Money Spring is clean-up time, and we are offering you special prices on all our interior paints. These nurses visit the homes of handicapped children, teach a par- ent how to administer therapy treatment, or direct a child to med- ical attention . Five summer camps this year will givea three week holiday to more than 1200 children who would oth- erwise have no such holiday be- cause of their inability to attend conventional camps. This is the biggest camping program of any single political area in the world, and its importance is that it not only gives a holiday, but also teach- es children who are often embar- rassed by handicaps, to care for themselves and get along with oth- er youngsters. Clinics for examination of child- ren in areas far from major hopi- tal centres are also organized and attended by top medical specialists. If children need hospitalization, this is provided on special advice, and local doctors co-operate in pro- viding treatment at home. With the opening of the 15th annual Easter Seal campaign today, there will be thousands of service club men and women working for a better future for Timmy and all his pals. Your contribution to the Easter Seal campaign is needed.
