Freight Assistance Given To West
Is Hurting Ontario's Wheat Market
The first vice-president of the
Ontario Wheat Producers' Market-
ing Board, E. M. Carroll, of Iona
Station, said that wheat growers
in Ontario are being discriminated
against by freight assistance on the
western feed grain.
Mr. Caroll was speaking to the
annual meeting of the Huron
County Wheat Producers Associa-
tion held in the agricultural office
board room. Only eight of Huron
County's 988 wheat producers at-
tended.
Basis Of Price
"The basis of price for our mil-
ling wheat, used in the manufact-
ure of high-priced pastries is really
the cost of hog feed," said Mr. Car-
roll. He explained that this is be-
cause more wheat is produced than
is needed for the pastry trade and
therefore the entire crop is paid
for on a basis of selling price of
the lowest -priced retail production.

Lumber Salesman
On Special Course
Mr. Clayton E. Mathers, of Con-
klin Lumber Co., Grand Bend, re-
cently attended a two day "Window
Workshop" at the Andersen Cor-
poration, manufacturers of Ander-
sen Windowalls, at Bayport, Minn-
esota.
The workshop included a trip
through the plant, which is the
largest in the world devoted en-
tirely to the manufacture of win-
dow units. The next clay and a
half was spent learning how win-
dows affect the livability of a home.
"After attending this school at
the Andersen Corporation," Mr.
Mathers said, "I really feel that I
am able to give my customers bet-
ter advice on the proper planning
and selection of window units."

The aerial survey introduced
about two years in Ontario has
proven quite accurate in obtaining
data for forecasting the crop yield,
said Mr. Carroll, adding that it is
expected that it will be of real as-
sistance in negotiating a realistic
minimum price in the future.
Delegates Chosen
Russell Bolton, RR 1, Seaforth,
chairman of the Huron County as-
sociation in 1960, presided at the
meeting. Mr. Bolton is a director
of the provincial board.

the annual meeting for Ontario
March 27 and 28, in Toronto, were
Mr. Bolton; Alex Chesney, RR 3,
Seaforth; and Robert H. Welsh, RR
2, Bayfield. Additional Huron
County committee members nam-
ed: Gordon Ratz, Dashwood; Wil-
liam Dale, Clinton; Bob Henry,
