Lutherans Plan For
100th Anniversary
Tentative plans for . the 100th
Centennial Anniversary of St. Pet-
er's Lutheran Church were made
at a meeting of the committee in
charge, last Wednesday evening.
Chairman of the committee is A.
J. Kalbfleisch, while the secretary
is Mrs. Fred Haberer, Jr.
On Sunday, October 8, at the
morning service, Rev. E. W. Heim -
rich, a former pastor of the con-
gregation, will be the guest speak-
er. Greetings will be extended
from the president of the Canada
Synod. In the evening Rev. 0.
Winter, also a former pastor, will
be the guest speaker.
A banquet will be held in the
Community Centre on Thanksgiv-
ing Monday, when sons of the Par-
ish, Rev. A. Datars, Rev. L. Kalb-
fleisch, and Rev. F. Howald will be
guest speakers. Greetings will al-
so be extended from pastors of oth-
er local churches.
Wednesday of the week-long cele-
bration will see a Conference Com-
posite held at the local church,
when the guest speaker will be Dr.
J. Reble. Other pastors in the con-
ference will bring special greetings
to the members of St. Peter's Con-
gregation.
On Friday night, a re -dedication
service will be held when a father
and son will officiate, The speak-
er will be Rev. E. Fischer, father
of the present pastor of the con-
gregation, Rev. W. P. Fischer.
While all the plans are only ten-
tative, the secretary of the com-
mittee has been instructed to con-
tact all the people involved to make
final arrangements. A special his-
torical booklet is being planned for
the occasion.

Valentine Motifs At
Hensall institute

Attractive decorations in Valen-
tine motif decorated the Legion
Hall, for the February meetinn of
Hensall Women's Institute, held
Wednesday, February 8. with an at-
tendance of over 80, incluclPn'
members and anests. Members an-
swered the roll call by bring a
friend and introducing he. Presi-
dent Mrs. Fred Beer presided for
the opening and business.
Miss Greta Laramie, pianist for
the Institute for 21 years, received
a lovely surprise when she was
made the presentation of a gift of
chane spray cologne and a corsage
for her valued and faithful services
through the years. Mrs. Beer, on
behalf of the Institute, expressed
her appreciation to Miss Laramie
and presented the gift to her,
while secretary, Mrs. R. M. Peck
pinned on the corsage. Greta al-
though very much surprised, ex-
pressed her thanks in a very fitting
manner.
It was decided to send in pool-
ing fee for Officers Conference at
Guelph in May.
Mrs. E. T. Rowe favoured with a
humorous reading. Mrs. James
Bengough conducted a sing -son;,
and Mrs. Edward Norminton and
Mrs. Bengough were in charge of
entertainment, which included pro-
gressive euchre. The winners were;
Mrs. Alex McGregor and Mrs. Al-
berta McBeath; Ione hands, Mrs.
Lorne Luker; crokinole, winner:
Mrs. William Brown. Members and
guests were divided into groups to
compose a Valentine verse, and the
winning verse was read by Miss
Mattie Ellis.
Mrs. George Hess gave courtesy
remarks, and delicious refresh-
ments were served. Hostesses
were, Mrs. Laird Mickle and Mrs,
Sim Roabol; program, Mrs. Norm-
inton and Mrs. Bengough. Winners
for euchre and erokinole were pre-
sented with Queen Elizabeth sou-
vener coffee spoons,
