in Zurich on Friday to spend a few
weeks vacation with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Gascho,
Mrs. Theresa Hartman and boys
were weekend visitors with her son,
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hartman and
family, in Windsor, and also atten-
ded a graduation party for Mr.
Lloyd Stansberry, in Detroit.
Rev. A. Martin and Rev. E. Gin-
gerich are spending three weeks at
Goshen College Biblical Seminary,
in Goshen, Indianna.

Mr. and Mrs. William Siebert and
family spent the weekend with
members of their family in Detroit.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Scafe and
Michael, of Ailsa Craig, and Mr.
and Mrs. R, M. Peck, of Hensall,
were Sunday visitors at the home
of Mr. and Mrs, Delbert Geiger.

Mr. and Mrs. William Baechler
and daughter, and Mr. and Mrs.
Solomon Baechler were Sunday
visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Floyd
Buehler, near Waterloo. Mr. Bueh-
ler has returned home from the
Kitchener -Waterloo Hospital in a
much -improved condition. He was
able to return to his duties on Mon-
day morning in Waterloo.
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Rannie, Tor-
onto, were weekend visitors with
Mr. and Mrs. Don O'Brien.
Mrs. Elmer Oesch and Miss Ag-
nes Oesch, attended a quilting bee
at the home of Mrs. Ivan Baechler
on Wednesday afternoon.
Attended Funeral
Mr. and Mrs. Adelbert Smith,
Lloyd Smith, Mrs. Alphonse Diet-
rich, Mrs. Ted Mittleholtz and Ken
Mittleholtz attended the funeral of
the late Bill Gilbert, who passed
away in Detroit last Thursday, after
a lingering illness. Mr. Gilbert was
married to the former Discola
Smith, who is a native of this dis-
trict.

OBITUARY
Clifford Weido
Residents of Zurich and district
were saddened on Sunday to learn
of the sudden passing of Clifford
Weido, highly esteemed and prom-
inent farmer of Hay Township, who
died in Clinton Hospital, on Sun-
day, February 5, having been admit-
ted to the hospital the evening
previous.
In his 42nd year, Mr. Weido was
born in Hay Township and spent
most of his life there, with the ex-
ception of three years in St. Cath-
arines. He was a past noble grand
of Hensel' IOOF Lodge, 223, a past
director of Hay Township Federa-
tion of Agriculture, and a member
of St. Peter's Lutheran Church,
Zurich.
Surviving are his wife, the form-
er Dorothy Watling; one son, Step-
hen, nine years of age; his mother,
Laurette Weido, Zurich, and one
brother, Glenn Weido, of Hay
Township.
Funeral service was held at St.
Peter's Lutheran Church, Zurich,
on Tuesday, February 7, conducted
by Rev. W. P. Fischer. Interment
was made in St. Peter's Lutheran
Cemetery.
The IOOF conducted a service at
the funeral chapel on Monday ev-
ening.

with their parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Russell Grainger and Mr. and Mrs.
Victor Deichert.
Misses Louise Talbot and Mary
Grainger, Exeter, spent the week-
end with their parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Clifford Talbot and Mr. and
Mrs. Russell Grainger.
New Post Office
Is Taking Shape
Work on the new $20,000 Post
Office for the village of Zurich is
almost completed and according to
postmaster William Siebert, he ex-
pects to be able to move into the
new building within the next three
weeks.
More box space is available in
the new office than in the old one,
and there will be more large size
boxes available.
The interior of the new office is
almost complete, while the only
thing left to finish outside is the
brick work, Workmen started on
Tuesday morning to lay bricks, and
expect to finish in a couple of days.
