Dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs.

Ervin Rader and family, Miss Mar-
ian Rader and Mr. Lloyd Howe, of

Zion.
Mrs. Fred Weiberg is a patient
in St. Joseph's Hospital, London.
Mrs. Leo Gibson is a patient in
St. Joseph's Hospital, London.
Mr. and Mrs. Wellwood Gill, of
Grand Bend, were visitors with Mr.
and Mrs. Ervin Rader, last Thurs-
day evening.

Cameron Witmer Wins Award In Minor
Hockey Event At Clinton Saturday
Two Zurich minor hockey teams,
the Squirts and Bantams, partici-
pated
articipated in Minor Hockey at the Clin-
ton Lions Arena on Saturday, mar-
king the end of Minor Hockey
Week, which has been observed
all week across Canada.
In the morning Squirt tourna-
ment, Clinton downed the local
Squirts by a score of 5-2.
Later in the day, the Zurich Ban-
tms were edged by the Clinton Ban-
tams, 2-1.
Wins Award
Tenders Resignation
The official board of the Varna
Charge met in the Varna United
Church last Wednesday evening,
The pastor, Rev. T. J. Pitt, tender-
ed his resignation, to take effect on
July 1.
Mr. Pitt is retiring after spend-
ing over 45 years in the ministry,
ten years in the Varna Charge. The
resignation was accepted with deep
regret by the board.
The annual congregational meet-
ing of the United Church will be
held on Tuesday, February 7.
Good Sport
Broom ball is becoming quite a
popular sport on Wednesday ev-
enings of each week, at the skat-
ing rink.
Meet Thursday
A combined meeting of the.Un-
ited Church WA and WMS will be
held on Thursday afternoon, at
the home of Mrs. Gordon Hill.
A highlight of the Bantam game
was the fete of star defenceman,
Cameron Witmer, who won the
award for the best Bantam player
in the tournament. For his efforts,
Cameron was preesnted with a pair
of shin guards.

And Lose In Minor

for the locals, as he scored three
times and earned one assist. John
Masse and T. Bedard scored the
other two goals.
Zurich took a early lead in the
first period, with Johnston and Be-
dard each scoring once. However,
Lambeth came back strong near
the end of the frame and scored
twice also.
The teams split four goals in the
second period, with Johnston and
Masse scoring for Zurich. At the
one minute mark in the third per-
iod, Lambeth went one up, and the
lead looked good enough to win the
game, until Bob Johnston came
through with only a couple of min-
utes left in the game to bang in the
tying marker.
The Zurich Lions Juveniles were
fortunate to come out of their Min-
or Hockey night game Friday,
against the Lambeth Juveniles,
with a 5-5 tie, scoring the tying
?oal with only a couple of minutes
left to play in the game. In the
opening game of the sepcial attrac-
tion here, the local Pee Wees were
trounced 12-0 by the Clinton Pee
Wees.

ring in the Mount Forest district of
the OPP in 1960 represented about
10 percent of the provincial total,
statistics released this week by
OPP Contable A: Bowering reveal-
ed.

ures the provincial total.

Hensall Kinettes, meeting at the
home of Mrs. Harold Knight last
Tuesday evening, voted a donation
of $10 to the March of Dimes, and
announced the hour and place for
members and volunteers to gather
for the canvass this wek.
Two guests, Mrs. Jim Clark and
Mrs, Tony Charette, both former
members, were present. .
A letter from their adopted ch-
ild in Italy was read expresing
thanks for a birthday gift received.
The raffle brought by Mrs. Will-
iam Mickle, was won by Mrs. Will-
iam Clement. Mrs. Mickle was in
charge of progresive euchre and
winners were; Mrs, Jack Drysdale
and Mrs. William Clement; lone
hands, Mrs. Harold Bonthron. The
president, Mrs. Ross Jinks, pres-
ided for the meeting.

Couple Honoured On
20th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Petzke, of
New Hamburg, former well-known
Hensall residents, were pleasantly
surprised on Saturday evening,
when relatives and friends gather-
ed at the L.O.L. Hall, Seaforth, to
honor them on their 30th wedding
anniversary. The group presented
them with an electric stove, presen-
tation address to the guests of hon -
of Kitchener.
Rudy on behalf of his wife and
himself, expressed thanks in a very
fitting manner. A recreational per-
iod of cards and dancing was enjoy-
ed with music for the dance pro-
vided by Collins' orchestra. Lun-
cheon was served, including an an-
niversary cake.
Relatives and friends, numbering
over 60, attended frbm Toronto,
Kitchener, Woodstock, Stratford,
Wingham, Seaforth, Exeter, Clin-
ton, Zurich and Hensall.
Attending from Zurich were Mr.
