The table was lov- ely with a lace table cloth and a centre piece of white 'mums, and red carnations. Green and white streamers and a three tier wedding cake, completed the decorations, Mrs. Earl Oesch, of Zurich and Mrs, Nelson Schenk, of Crediton, poured tea in the afternoon. In the evening Mrs. Solomon Gingerich, grandmother of the bride, and Mrs. Estrella Finkbeiner, grandmother of the groom, poured tea. ZURICH CITIZENS NEWS Zurich Juveniles Beat Hensall 5-3 In Opening Game Of WOAA "D" Serres Playing their first game of the season in the WOAA Juvenile lea- gue, the Zurich Lions Juveniles downed the Hensall team 5.3 on Monday night in the Hensall arena, The next home game for the locals is here in town on Friday night, when they entertain the Oakridge Acres Juveniles in the Shamrock League schedule. Zurich opened the scoring in the first period, with Gerard Overholt banging in a pass from Bob John- ston. VARNA NEWS The United Church Sunday School are holding their annual en- tertainment, and Christmas tree on Monday evening, December 19, at 8:00 p.m. A number of slides will also be shown, including several of the 1960 Vacation School. Miss Effie Plumsteel, of Clinton, spent the weekend at the home of Miss Joan McClymont. A large number of parents at- tended the commencement exer- cises at the Clinton Collegiate, last Friday evening. 0 Lucky Winners Santa Claus made his official vis- it to Gingerich's store in Zurich this past Saturday, and as usual he delighted hundreds of children with his presence. Three lucky draws were held in connection with his visit, with the following children being the win- ners: first, David Regier; second, Mary Helen Corriveau; and third, Edward Farwell. Mrs.Norma Siebert displayed articles 'and crafts which she made at school and are suitable for Chris- tmas gifts and bazaars. Donations were given to the Hu- ron County Children's Aid Society and to the War Memorial Child- ren's 1'ospital in London. Cards were received from Mrs. Chester Smith and Elimville and Seaforth Institutes. Mrs. Harold Thiel gave two read- ings; "Christmas Customs in other Lands" and the "Sound of Christ- mas,". Ruth Anne and Shirley Flaxbard sang the duet, "0 Little Town o f Bethlehem" with Mrs. Delbert Ge- iger as pianist. She also read the poem, "At Christmas." Gary Flaxbard favoured the gr- oup with a piano solo and a read- ing, "The Day after Christmas." Shirley Flaxbard delighted t h e ladies with two piano solos, Stars Of the East" and "Christmas Car- ols." Mrs. Harold Thiel read "T h e Heart comes Home at Christmas' and "How a lead pencil is made." Lucky draws for the decorated gift boxes were won by Mrs. Ed. Stelck and Mrs. Flossie Stade, of Dashwood, and Miss Anna Datars, of Zurich. Mrs. Leonard Erb, Mrs. Newell Geiger, Mrs. Nancy Koehler and Mrs. Harold Thiel served a Christ- mas Iunch. Two carloads of Zurich members attended the HurondaIe Institute Christmas party in the Exeter Le- gion Hall, on December 9, at which all the South Huron Institutes were guests. The Zurich group presented a musical skit, and Mrs. Norma Siebert displayed her lovely table centre piece. D Schedule Set For Juvenile Hockey The WOAA Juvenile hockey group 2 this year is made up of two "B" teams, Clinton and Exeter; and,, two "D" teams, Hensall and Zurich. Doug Thorndike, of Clin- ton, is convener of the group. The Zurich entry is sponsored by the Zurich Lions Club, and will play their home games at Hensall arena until ice is available here in Zurich.
