Mr. and Mrs. Herb Kercher at- Ross Love,
tended the funeral, last Thursday,
of a nephew, the late Murray Sav-
auge of Seaforth.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Van Wier -
ren attended the annual banquet
held by W. G. Thompson and Sons,
Of Hensall, for their employees.
The event was held in Blenheim.
Mr. and Mrs. Eric Switzer and
girls, of Clinton, visited on Sunday
with Mr. and Mrs. William Mc-
Lachlan. Their daughter, Marlene,
of London, spent hte weekend with
them.
The choirs of Brucefield and
Kippen will unite to present the
Christmas Cantata, "The Gospel
song of Christmas," on Sunday ev-
ening, December 18, at 8.00 p.m.
Rev. Harold Johnson will be nar-
rator, Mrs. J. R. Murdock the org-
anist, and Miss Jean Ivison, the
pianist.
Teachers and officers of St. An-
drew's church and Sunday school
are busy preparing for the annual
Christmas concert to be held Dec-
ember 19.
A report of Presbyterial, held at
Thames Road church in October,
was given by Mrs, Emerson Kyle.
Minutes were read and adopted.
The roll call was answered with a
gift for the Salvation Army.
Mrs. J. Sinclair and Mrs. R.
Broadfoot favoured with a piano
duet "Silent Night." A very im-
pressive candle lighting service
was held. The first candle "For-
givness," was lit by Mrs. H. John-
son. Every one joined in singing
the first verse of, "Once in Royal
David's City."
The second candle for "Peace,"
was lit by Mrs. John Anderson, fol-
lowed by the first verse of "Gen-
tle Mary Laid Her Child." The
third candle, for "Joy" was lit by
Mrs. William Bell, followed by the
first verse of "Joy to the World."
The fourth candle, for "Love", was
lit by Mrs. E. Kyle, and everyone
sang "Away in a Manger,",
WMS Meeting
The Christmas meeting of the
WMS was held Thursday, Decem-
ber 8, in the school room of the
church, with Mrs. John Sinclair in
the chair. The worship service was
centred around the Christmas car-
ol, "Silent Night, Holy Night."
Mrs. Allan Johnson read the
story of "Silent Night," and Mrs.
Winston Workman gave the inter-
pretation of the same. All joined
in the singing of this carol. The
offering was taken by the hostess,
Mrs. Pearson Charters, and Mrs.

Mrs. H. Johnson, of Brucefield
and Kippen, gave the Christmas
message, "Following the Star." Mrs.
R. J. Elgie gave the visiting report,
eight calls to shut-ins.
The slate of officers was then
given. by Mrs. Alex McMurtrie.
Mrs. John Anderson thanked ev-
eryone for remembering her while
she was a patient in Clinton hospi-
tal. The meeting closed with a
hymn and the benediction.

erson; vice-presidents, Mrs. Harold
