Farm Forum
Parr Line Farm Forum met at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. John
Soldan with the topic for discus-
sion "Consumer Protection."
One. How serious is this pro-
blem in your community. If you
have found any serious problem
of misrepresentation how has it
been handled.
There haev, been problems of
this type. People do not publicize
the facts when they are personal
ones. This forum enumerated
seevral cases where they were ta-
ken in; eg: chimney builders, roof
painters, watch salesmen and sew-
ing machine companies, some of
these enumerated being w e l l
known firms. Theft has occurred as
a result of letting strangers learn
the set up of the homes. Action
taken: forum :warn people to buy
only and do business in their own
home towns.
Two: Your community advertis-
ments: "Buy at Home" slogan,
where you get the best deal. Lic-
ense all peddlers.
Three: Government has great-
est control position. Government
should take action with restriction
laws and heavier licenses.
Euchre winners: Mrs. J. Love,

at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Char-
les Robinson.

The regular meeting of Dash-
wood WI was held Tuesday, Dec-
ember 6. Only business matters
were dealt with as the girls 4-H
Club, "The Club -girl entertains,"
provided the program, and served
tea to the WI members and the
girl's mothers, who were given
special invitations.
Mrs. Leonard Schenk, president,
presided for the business. Sever-
al Christmas cards from district
institutes were acknowledged, Mrs.
Schenk reported briefly on the
workship "Eat to Live," held re-
cently in Hensall, which she and
Mrs. Art Allemand had attended.
The following donations were
made: $5.00 to the War Memorial
hospital at London; $10.00 to the
Children's Aid at Goderich, and
$15.00$ to the Men's Club ofr the
Children's Christmas treats. The
leaders of the 4-H club were pre-
sented gifts from the institute. A
new member was welcomed.
The girls reported on each of
the seven meetings held. Read-
ings were glen by several girls.
The proper method of packing a
weekend bag was demonstrated by
Iris Becker and Helen Rader. June
Rader presided at the tea table and
the girls served sandwiches, cook-
ies and tea. These were prepared
by the girls. The ladies were of -

Miss Brenda Fee, of London,
spent last week with her uncle and
aunt, Mr. and Mrs, Louis Weigand.
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Martene
have moved into their new home.

Toronto, spent the weekend with
Mrs. Wes. Wolfe.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Poland and
children, of Campbellford, spent a
few days with Mrs. Cora Gaiser.
Mrs, John Neeb
Mrs. John Neeb, 47, the former
Verda Burmeister, of Dashwood,
passed away suddenly, at Welles-
ley, Friday, December 9, 1960. Sur-
viving besides her husband are
two daughters, Marjorie and Irm-
gard, of RR 2, Wellesley, one sister,
Mrs. Edwin Miller, of Dashwood,
and two brothers, Garnet and
Courtney, of the 14th concession of
Hay.
Funeral serivces were held Tues-
day, December 13, at Wellesley.

Mrs. M. Ronnie
Mrs. William Ranvier of Exeter,
81, died at the Desjardine Nursing
Home, Exeter, on Saturday, Nov-
ember 26.
She was the former Laura Mae
Broderick of this community and
following her marriage to William
Ramie they lived at Blake, north
of Zurich until Mr. Bioderick's
death in December 1953. Mrs.

Broderick then moved to Exeter
where she has resided since.
Surviving are two brothers: Ed-
gar and Evelyn Broderick, both of
Exeter, and one sister, Miss Marg-
ery, also of Exeter.
• Funeral services were held at
the Dinney funeral home, 1V1ain
Street, conducted by Rev. S. E.
Lewis, on Tuesday, November 29,
with interment in Exeter ceme-
tery.
