Unique Farm Forum
Mr. and Mrs. Claire Geiger open-
ed their hone to the Unique Farm
Forum on Monday evening, Dec-
ember 5.
The subject for discussion, "Con-
sumer Protection,' was led by the
secretary.
In answer to question No. 1, we
felt that the problem of misrepre-
sentation of goods was not a very
serious problem in our commun-
ity, but the public should be on
guard at all times against being
fooled by door to door salesmen
who are offering so-called bargains.
Question No. 2, "What action
needs to be taken" by:
(A) Our Forum? We thought
our forum could do very little to
protect the consumer.
(B) Our Community? Our com-
munity should be on guard at all
times against misrepresentation of
goods, etc., and report all griev-
ances to the Better Business Bur-
eau.
(C) Our Government? Our gover-
nment is protecting the consumer
under various acts of parliament,
but it is almost impossible to have
100 percent supervision.
A short period of recreation
was followed by lunch. The next
meeting will be held at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Geiger, on
Monday evening, December 12.
My sincere gratitude for those
who suported me in my election
as Councillor for the Village of
Zurich.
