CAL. FRED DUCHARME. Carreabendentl
his work.
On Saturday evening last on the
occasion of Mr. and Mrs. Garfield
Denomme's 22nd wedding anniv-
ersary, gathering of relatives got
together for the evening to spend
a few hours of enjoyment, bring-
ing back memories of those years
gone by.
The marriage ceremony of the
Denomme's was performed by
Father Martin, then parish priest,
and being the second couple that
he had married in this parish.
After a short retreat, here I ant
again in your midst for another
little while, as the old saying is;
there I do not know'. There are
some things in life that a person
does not understand, something
springs up at the last minute
where you least expect it and shifts
your plans for the time being. Yost
then find yourself at the very spot
you Left off;*also at the 'same place;
you start all over again.
Apparently such was the case]
with me, regarding writing for the
Zurich'Citiens News. I'n niy mind
I had found -myself free from • it;.
Now here I am again, for how
long only time will tell.
Mr. Francis LaRouche, who is
in residence with his daughter and
son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond.
Denomcne, has been confined to
his room the past week, but is now
improving. Two of his sons Aureal
and Area, of the .Province of Que-
bec, arrived on Friday last to vis-
it their ailing father. Mr. LaRou-
che is a native of Quebec.
On Wednesday last, Master Pet-
er Jeffrey, of St. Joseph, was rush-
ed to St. Joseph's Hospital, Lon-
don, where an immediate opera-
tion wasperformed for a ruptured
appendix. It will be some time yet
before he is released but not too
long, we hope, before he is fully
recovered.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Aldruss, and
children, of Detroit, were Sunday
last visitors with the Ducharme
family south of St. Joseph.
Mrs. Marceline Corriveau, of
the fourteenth concession, and son
Gordon, were Sunday last visitors
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jos-
eph Corriveau, and family, on this
Highway.
Mr. Ducharme, who some time
ago had the misfortune of having
met with a rather painful hand ac-
cident, while employed in Bayfield,
has now been able to again resume

Even though a marriage anniv-
ersary is not of long standing,
there is always much that has pas-
sed to talk of which snakes it in-
teresting as well as enjoyable for
those present.
May many more years in the
future guide them to _health and
happiness.
Some times we could well be
wondering the impression when
accidents would not happen on the
farm. Being free from all fast
and dangerous traffic on the by-
ways and highways, which in a
moment could send you to your
last resting place. Turn over the
pages of the daily papers, .listen
to the news that is flashed on the
air, that tells you that not a day
passes by that someone on the
farm are victims to accidents, some
fatal. .

Much of that is due to fast mov-
ing implements that stop only by
some power control, and gives no
time or warning.
To live in this age of exper-
imenting and inventions, many
pay with their lives forthe com-
fort and speed they receive from it.
It is true, farmers have long been
entitled to more comfort and ease
in their farm work. Never -the -less,
we say, with certainty that the
farming industry is not a safer
place to avoid accident, and as
time goes on there will be more
occasion for accidents.

water Highway, met with a very
painful accident recently, while
operating a corn -picking machine.
It was some time, after being
caught in the machine, before his
signals for help were noticed, and
he was released. He was rushed
to St. Joseph's Hospital, London,
where it was necessary to ampu-
tate his hand.
The community ' was shocked
by the accident to the young man.
