Mr. and Mrs. Joe McLellan, Hen- sall, Mr. and Mrs. Robert McGreg- or and Mr. and Mrs, Norman Dich- ert, spent Saturday evening in Stratford, the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Spear. Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Jacques, of Clifford, visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Norman Dichert. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stokes and Larry, of London, viisted Sunday afternon with the latter's father, Mr. R. Thomson. Mr. and Mrs. Eldin Kerr, of Winthrop, were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Elston Dowson. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Plumb and children were in ToTronto during the weekend. Anniversary The WMS of St. Andrew's Chur- ch, Kippen, celebrated their 74th birthday on Wednesday evening. November 2. The hostesses. Mrs. Emmerson Kyle and Mrs. Norman Dickert, greeted the guests at the door. Mrs. Hugh Hendrick, in charge of the worship, opened the meeting with the hymn, "In Christ there is no east or west," with Mrs. Ross Broadfoot at the organ. She chose Ephesians 6-5-13 as the and followed The president, Mrs. John And- erson, took the chair, and extended a welcome to the guests. Mrs. Smith, of Bayfield„ favoured with an instrumental, and Miss Joan Sinclair, accompanied by her her mother, with a solo. After the offering, Mrs. John Cooper, gave a report from the visiting committee. Mrs. Passmore and Miss Mary Goodwin, of Hen- sall, accompanied by Mrs. Winlaw, sang a duet. Mrs. William Bell introduced the guest speaker, Mrs. (Rev_) John- son, of Brucefield-Kippers charge. She gave a very inspiring talk on "lessons from flowers." Mrs, Clare McBride, Mrs. Elmer Hayter, and Mrs. Anson McKinley, accompanied by Mrs. Bruce Keys, favoured with a vocal trio. Mrs. Arche Parsons, thanked the guest speaker, and all the ladies who helped with the program, and the hostess. The meeting closed with the benediction. Mrs. John Anderson and Mrs. William Bell received over 80 guests into the Sunday school room, where refreshments were served. Mrs. Ross Love and Mrs. Morley Cooper, presided at the head table, which was decorated with silver candelbra and lighted tapers. It was centered with a two tier birthday cake. Mrs. Herb JJoJnes did the honor of cutting the cake. Guests were present from Go- shen and Bayfield United Church- es, Hensall Evening Auxiliary, and Ladies of Kippen congregation. Gerber Moses K. Gerber, 74, passed away at his home in Zurich, on Thursday, November 3. He was born on March 8, 1886, in Holt county, Nebraska, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Valentine Gerber, He married Mary Anne Gingerich on October 19, 1913. Mr. and Mrs. Gerber farmed on the Goshen Line north for many years before moving to Zurich, 15 years ago, where they retired. He is survived by his wife, one son Orland, of Baden, daughters, Mrs. Nelson (Mabel) Riley, of Kip - pen; Mrs. Laverne (Beatrice) Hey- wood, of Exeter; Mrs. Albert (Ir- ene) Clausis, of Zurich; Mrs. Jos- eph (Ilene) Kicker, of Holland, Michigan. One brother, Valentine Gerber, of 1 artstown, Pennsalvan- ia, and one sister, Mrs. Aaron Erb, Stanley Township, also 24 grand- children, and one great grand- child. Funeral service was held in the Amish Mennonite Church, Bron- son Line, on Sunday, November 6. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. Ephriam Gingerich officiated. Paulbearers were Gordon Erb, Floyd Gerber, Vallie Gerber Jr., Aaran Janizi, Melvin Gerber and Donald Jantzi. Belt -Shaw Marriage vows were exchanged in Grand Bend United Church, on Saturday, October 29, by Ken- lynn Wray Shaw and Robert Ja- mes Bell, before the Rev. J. W. Gillings, Dashwood. Mr. and Mrs. Hurley Shaw, Grand Bend, are parents of the bride, and the groom is the son of William J. Bell, RR 1, Hensall, and the late Mrs. Bell. Chantilly lace and silk organza were chosen by the bride for her wedding gown. The bodice fea- tured a scalloped sabrina neckline and lilypoint sleeves. The bouf- fant skirt was designed with side panels of chantilly lace and a cha- pel train. Her fingertip veil was held by a pearl tiara and she car- ried a cascade of yellow roses and feathered white mums. Miss Aleda Shaw, London, at- tended the bride in a gown of moss green velvet, similar to the dresses worn by bridesmaids, Miss Dianne Shaw, Grand Bend, sister of the bride, and Mrs. Ellen Knight, RR 1, Hensall sister of the groom. Ronald Bell, Windsor, was his brother's groomsman, and guests were ushered by Eugene Shaw, Grand Bend, and Donald Bell, Toronto. A wool tweed suit in tones of brown and green, rust accessories and a corsage of white roses were chosen by the bride for travelling. Mr. and Mrs. Bell will reside in Exeter. New GehI`g, i IT GRINDS!
