Supper The annual Ladies' Aid fowl supper for the husbands and friends was held Wednesday ev- ening, November 2, in Zion Luth- eran Church, with group 1 serving the supper, and Mrs. Lorne Gent- tner as convener. Following supper, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Becker showed pictures of Sugar and Spice (Continued from Page Two) that: in England, France, Belgium. Some of these affairs were sweet, some bitter. I even asked one of them to marry me, but I was too late. She'd just accepted a pro- posal from another Canadian who had a big country place in Cana- da. It was big, and it was in the country: 200 acres of stone and swamp in northern Ontario. Then, of course, and I know you think I'm just putting this in for self-protection, and how right you are, there was the BIG love of my life when I met the Old Battleaxe and started hewing my way through the domestic jungle. Sin- ce then the only other girl I've kissed, except the odd one on New Year's Eve, has been my wife's daughter. I guess, all told, I've been in love about 12 to 20 times. But it never again had the impact of that first, swooning, searing sickness over Dietrich. And that's why Marlene, if the crude remarks of those Toronto critics bothered you; feel free to call on me, My ardor may have cooled and I may not be quite as pure as 1 was 30 years ago, and you may have become a grandmother in the meantime, but by George, you're still the most beautiful, glamorous, mysterious women I ever fell in love with. I wish you were MY grandmother. the trip they had taken to the Calgary stampede, Disneyland and Flower Pot Island, as well as lo- cal pictures of interest. Airplane bunco was also played with Mrs. Elmer Rader and Gar- net Willert winners, and Mrs, Ad- dison Tiernan and Wilfred Mer- ner consolation winners. Dashwood Merry Maids The fourth meeting of the 4-H Club, 'The club girl entertains," was held Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Gordon Bender, the leader. Present were 13 girls and assistant leader, Mrs. Leonard Schenk. The meeting opened with the 4-H pledge. The leaders demoli- strated the making of fancy sand- wiches. Notes were given on af- ternoon tea, viz: informal tea; equipment used; the tea; formal tea; sandwiches for tea; and gen- eral rules. The girls drew slips to see what they had to do and tea, sandwich- es, and cookies were served. Roll call for next meeting, "Why 1 like to entertain." Home assign- ment: (1) make sandwiches and serve them at home; (2) work on record book and reference file. Miss Brenda Becker, of Toronto, and Mrs. Rita Hamather, and Har- old, of London, spent the week- end with Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Becker and family. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stormes, of St. Thomas, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Tieman. REMEMBRANCE DAY Remembrance day will be obser- ved at Hensall on Friday, Novem- ber 11. The RCAF band from Centralia will be at the town hall at 12 noon. All war veterans are invited to attend.
