However, that's their worry. I
have enough troubles of my own.
My leg is black and blue where
my wife kept pinching me to keep
me awake on the long, cold, dreary
drive home. And she's still sore
as blazes because she hadn't time
to finish the lobster dinner she
tackled just about the time we
should have been heading for the
theatre.

Over 100 Delegates Attend Fall Fair
Meeting; Speaker Urges Change In Prizes.
Prize lists must be modernized
to keep up with modern times,
William J. Hunter told a gather-
inf of delegates from Huron -Perth
District 8 Agricultural Societies,
at their dinner meeting Wednes-
day at Seaforth Legion Hall. We
can't run a fair year after wear
with the same list, the speaker
said.
Mr. Hunter, president of the On-
tario Association of Agricultural
Societies, brought greetings from
the parent group. Most fairs have
enjoyed a good year, said Mr.
Hunter, with only a few suffering
at the hands of the weatherman.
Other greetings were brought to
the meeting by James Mair, Brus-
sels, second vice-president of the
OAAS, and N. Ashton, Stratford,
new agricultural representative for
Perth County.
The dinner meeting was one of
three sessions in the day's agenda.
In the morning and following the
dinner, the men delegates held
sessions in the Carnegie Library

Hall, while the women met in the
Legion Hall. More than 100 dele-
gates from the 16 societies in
Huron and Perth were on hand for
the annual affair. The dinner
meeting was chaired by John Sie-
mon, Mitchell, director for Dis-
trict 8.
Election of officers was held
with the same slate being return-
ed for another year in both men's
and women's groups. Mr. Siemon
remains as director, with assistant
director being R. W. Campbell,
RR 1, Dublin, past president of
Seaforth Agricultural Society, and
John Rifler, Atwood, secretary -
treasurer. The women's group will
be headed for another term by
Mrs. JoJseph Grummett, Seaforth,
officers are Mrs. Ro" Coulter, Mil-
verton, assistant, and Mrs. Lorne
M, Scrimgeour, secretary.
Following invatations from Lis-
towel, Stratford and St. Marys so-
cieties for the 1961 annual meet-
ing, a vote favored Listowel, The
group has not met in that centre
for quite a number of years.
On recommendation of George
Watt, Blyth, the district secretary
will be paid an annual honorar-
ium of $10 for his services. Thanks
of the group to the Seaforth Le-
gion. Ladies' Auxiliary, who cat-
ered for the dinner, was extend-
ed by Mrs. Scrimgeour.
The dinner session concluded
with the showing of colored slides
taken at various fall fairs during
the past year. The slides were
shown by Floyd A. Lashley, pro-
vincial director og Ontario Agri-
cultural and Horticultural Socie-

During the morning session the
men's group, chaired by John Sie-
mon, heard reports of the year's
activity from the 16 societies.
The afternoon session was ad-
dressed by Staff Johnson, of the
Stratford Beacon -Herald. A panel
discussion and question -and -an-
swer period were 'conducted, with
Mr. Lashley in charge.
Mrs, J. Grummett chaired the
women's meeting. During the
early session, highlights of the To-
ronto convention in February were
given by Mrs. L. Scrimgeour, Mrs.
R. Coulter and Mrs. J. Grummett,
Also on the ladies' agenda were
reports of women's work at the
various fall fairs and separate re-
ports on elementary high school
and Junior Club work.
At the afternoon session Mrs.
George Ironside, secrtary of the
Women's Division of the OAAS,
was in charge of a question box.
Reports of club work in the two
counties was given by Miss Till-
man and Mrs. Ritchie.
Attending the meeting from the
Zurich Agricultural Society were
secretary, Mrs. Marge Schilbe; and
director, Mrs. Anne Flaxbard.
