Lutheran Women To
Sell Greetings Cards
The regular monthly meeting of
the United Lutheran Church Wo-
men was held in St. Peter's Luth-
eran Church, on Tuesday evening,
September 20, with 18 members
present.
The topic "Having Gifts That
Differ" or "Women in Parish Ser-
vice" was presented by Mrs. Anne
Tuerkheiun, assisted by Miss Mar-
tha Heideman, Mrs. Carl Willert
and Mrs. Leonard Prang. Service
to our organization, service in, for,
and through the congregation as
well as service in the community
wfre discussed. Areas were set
forth in which women of the con-
gregation are presently serving and
the need for additional volunteers
in these areas. Ideas for new areas
of volunteer service in the congre-
gation rand community were sug-
gested.
The business meeting was in
charge of Mrs. Leonard Prang, the
president. The Biennial Convent-
ion of the United Lutheran Church
Women will be held in St. Matth-
ew's Lutheran Church, Kitchener,
on October 26 and 27. Mrs. Leon-
ard Prang and Mrs. Henry Gack-
stetter were appointed delegates.
It was again decided to sell
Christmas cards to members and
friends of the congregation, the
convener in charge being Miss In-
ez Yugblut.

Mr. and Mrs. F. Ducharme, af-
ter spending a week in Windsor,
Detroit, and other centres, return-
ed to their home on Sunday last.
While in Detroit they motored to
St. John's Provincial Seminary in
Plymouth, Michigan, where their
grandson, Rev. Mr. Larry Duch-
arme, was received in the Deacon -
ate Order. They were accompanied
back Mrs, Theresa Hartman and
son, Cyril, who also took part in
the mass and ceremony.
Mrs. Sarah Jeffrey, who motored
to Detroit on Sunday with her son,
Vincent, and grandson, Jimmie, re-
turned on Friday last with Mr. and
Mrs. Bob Mernorvidge, of that city.
The end of the swntner season
is upon us again and the summer
harvests are nearly completed; al-
so the bean crop, only an odd fi-
eld here land there of late plant-
ing remains. It was all that could
be expected for fanners to save
beans in good condition, and they
took full 'advantage of it. There
are always a few headaches for
the farmers throughout the year.
Today those who are not equipped
with rock well and water system
are a little uneasy if the dry spell
montinues much longer. There will
be a water famine for many, for
already it will take hours of down
pour before the ground is satur-
ated. Already fall is stepping up
and then, well, anything can hap-
pen to freeze the land for winter.
Mr. rand Mrs. Michael Hartman,
Trenton, were week end visitors
in Zurich and also on the Blue
Water Highway with the latter's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Armand De-
nomme.
