TWO SHOWS NIGHTLY
FIRST SHOW AT DUSK
Season; Lose Series To Dashwood Tigers
The Zurich Lumberkings hung
up their gloves and spikes last
Friday night after they were de-
feated 14-6 and 4-2 in two succes-
sive games, by the Dashwood Ti-
gers. Dashwood won the best -of -
five series, three games to one.
DASHWOOD 14 -- ZURICH 6
Playing in Dashwood last Thurs-
day night, the locals were trounced
14-6 in a five -inning contest. The
Tigers pounded out 11 hits, to Zur-
ich's five, and the Kings miscued
seven times, compared to Dash -
wood's two errors.•
John Masse, juvenile southpaw,
started on the mound for Zurich
and was nicked for six hits before
being replaced by Arn Meyer in
the third. Meyer gave up five hits
in the remaining two and one-third
innings.
The big difference in the score
came in the third inning when the
Tigers exploded for seven runs,
highlighted by Don Genttner's tri-
ple. They also scored three runs
in the first and added four more in
the fifth.
Bill Yungblut was the big gun
at bat for Zurich, smashing out a
hone run and two singles in three
times at bat. Don O'Brien and
John Masse each had singles.
Jim Attrill started on the mound
for the Tigers, and was lifted in
favour of Mitro in the third, he had
given up three hits and walked
five batters.
Zurich left a total of nine men
on base in the five innings, as time
and time again they failed to come
through with the hits, when they
needed them.

DASHWOOD 4 -- ZURICH 2
Lack of hitting power again pro-
ved to be the downfall of the Zur-
ich team on Friday night, when.
they were nosed out 4-2 on the lo-
cal diamond to end the playoff
series. As in the game on Thursday
night, the Kings left nine runners
on base in the five innings played.
Dashwood outhit Zurich 7-5 in this
game.
Jerry Bell lined out a triple in
the first inning for the Tigers, and
scored on a fielder's choice. Zurich
came back strong with two runs in
their half, on two runs and four
stolen bases, but were held off
the score sheet for the rest of the
game. Twice they had the bases
loaded, but could not get a single
run across the plate.
Dashwood scored twice in the
fourth, on two hits and two errors,
after two were out. They added the
extra run in the fifth on a double
LETTER TO EDITOR
Zurich Citizens News,
Zurich, Ontario.
Dear Mr. Editor:
Would it be possible for our Ci-
vic authorities to pass a By -Law
prohibiting the use of "Hollywood"
mufflers on automobiles in the in-
corporated Village of Zurich.
The noise emaninating from this
stupid abortion is appalling, and
during the week ends it seems to
reach fantastic limits.
Further, the speed at which ve-
hicles are permitted to travel in
Village limits can only result in
one thing; somebody's child is go-
ing to get killed.
We love our children, sure, but
let us act before it is too late.
