or Large Crowd
Pinery Park officials, caught off
guard by a huge crowd on Domin-
ion Day week end, were prepared
for the record -busting invasion it
experienced over Civic Holiday.
Over 1,300 camping parties, 200
more than on July 1, were acco-
modated in the park without dif-
ficulty, although considerable tem-
porary provision had to be made,
"We knew what to expect this
time," said Sup't. Garland Meyers,
"and we had a plan of attack al-
ready formulated."
After 500 sites in the regular
camping area were filled, attend-
ants directed the week end visitors
to picnic areas. Seven of the nine
lakeshore picnic sections were fil-
led and campers were also located
in areas near the old river.
In addition to campers, the park

ich, and Mrs. Alex Matheson, Bri-
tish Columbia. Mrs. Matheson, the

and had not seen each other for
17 years.
