HURON LIBERAL OFFICERS — Elected to the executive
of the Huron Liberal Association at its annual meeting and ban-
quet in Clinton last Friday night were: FRONT ROW, left to right,
Garnet Hicks, Exeter; Ivan Kalbfleisch, Zurich; William Elston,
Wingham, and Earl Campbell, Hensall, all vice-presidents; BACK
ROW, John Broadfoot, Seaforth, also a vice-president; Harold
Shore, Goderieh, secretary, and Roy Lamont, Zurich, treasurer.
The newly elected president, A. Y. McLean, Seaforth, was unable
to attend the meeting.

Mr. and Mrs. Keith Gingerich
and family were Sunday guests
with i!2r. and Mrs. Earl Oesch and
family.
Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Gingerich
and family spent Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs. Cleve Gingerich and fa-
mily.
Mrs. Annie Kipfer and Rose,
and Garfield Johnston, Kitchener,
were Sunday evening guests with
Mr. and Mrs. Amos Gingerich.
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Frey (nee
Eva Steckle) bridal couple, return-
ed from their honeymoon to her
parents home on Friday, and are
moving to the groom's farm on
Monday, at Elmira.

Funeral service was held on
Tuesday, May 17, for William H.
Dowson, Varna, from the Ball and
Mutch funeral home, Clinton,.
Burial was made in the Bayfield
cemetery.
Mr. Dawson, who passed away on
Saturday, May 14, was in his 80th
year. He was a native of Stan-
ley Township.
Surviving are his ,two sons: Roy,
Hamilton; Orrin, Varna; one dau-
ghter, Mrs. Wilfred. (Shirley) Chu -
ter, Varna; one brother, John,
Varna; and two sisters, Mrs. Edith
Galbraith and Mrs. Sadie Foster,
Varna.
Hensall Kinsmen Honour Hockey Teams
With Banquet Last Monday Night

The first annual sports night,
held at the Hensall Community
Centre on Monday night, was at-
tended by over 200, when a ban-
quet was given to honour the mid-
get, bantam, and pee -wee hockey
teams, sponsored by the Kinsmen
Club.
Guest speakers, Carl Brew-
er, Toronto Maple Leaf defence -
man, and Bob Davidson, Leafs
chief scout, in talking to the boys
gave them suggestions on how to
improve their games and stated
that hockey was a good sport but
stressed the importance of edu-
cation.
The guests were liberal with
autographs and the boys who for-
got note pads tore pieces of the
paper table cloths for autographs.
Speakers were introduced by Bill
Mickle and thanked by Harold
Knight.
Bill Shaddick, captain of the
midget team, on behalf of the
team presented, coaches George
Beer and Bob Baker Jr. with gifts
of smokers.
Coach Beer introduced members
of his team; coach Bill Mickle the
bantams and W. J. (Doc) Camer-
on, the pee-wees.
George Hess
A we11-known resident of Zur-
ich for many years, George Hess
passed away in St. Joseph's Hos-
pital, London, on Saturday, May
14, 1960, in his 78th year. For
many years Mr. Hess operated a
wood -working shop in Zurich, be -
Lore retiring some years ago.
Born in Zurich on November 29,
1882, Mr. Hess was a son of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hess.
Surviving besides his wife, the
former Arletta Wainer, are: two
step -sons, Leeland Willert, Zur-
ich; W. O. Ivan Willert, Centralia;
one step -daughter, Mrs. Don (Lou-
ise) Carruthers, London; one bro-
ther, William, Pontiac, Michigan;
and two step -sisters, Mrs. Gordon
Wilson, Centralia; and Mrs. Rev.
Ferd Howald, Morrisburg. There
are also ten grandchildren and
two great grand -children.
The body rested at the Westlake
funeral home, Zurich, until Tues-
day afternoon, when removal was
made to St. Peter's Lutheran
Church, Zurich, where a service
was held at 2.30 p.m. Burial was
made in St. Peter's Lutheran Ce-
metery, Goshen Line. Rev. W. P.
Fischer officiated.
Bantams and Midgets were spon-
sored by the Kinsmen, and the
pee-wees by the Hensall Legion.
Ross Jinks was master of cere-
monies for the occasion and Roy
Brock catered for the turkey din-
ner.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul, Bedard and
family, Birkley, Michigan, spent
Sunday with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Peter Ducharme.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Siemon,
and family, Goderieh, were Sun-
day visitors with Mr, and Mrs. Pe-
ter Ducharme.
Miss Leeta Penhale, Mrs. Don
Begg and Mrs, Nell La Courtwau,
St, Thomas, visited on Wednesday
with their cousin, Mrs. T. M. Snow-
den, at the home of Mr. and Miks.
