THIEL phone 140, ZURICH DASHWOOD and DISTRICT 4-H Merry Maids The fifth meeting o£ Dashwood Merry Maids "Meat in the menu" club was held last Monday at the home of the assistant leader, Mrs. Gordon Bender, with five girls and two leaders present. The meeting opened with the 4-11 pledge, followed by the minutes of the last meeting and the roll call. The leaders demonstrated how to make braised diver with vege- tables, which was later eaten for lunch. Notes were given on the following topics; Pork cuts, Pork cookery, the chart of Pork cuts, Liver and its place on the menu. Roll call for the next meeting, .`One good reason for using liver," Home assignment 1. complete table of pork cuts; 2. try one liver re- cipe and one recipe using pork and report in record book; 3. work in record book. Entertain Newly Confirmed The Walther League of Zion Lu- theran Church entertained ,their parents and the newly confirmed young people at a social evening last Monday evening. Progressive games were enjoyed with Mrs, V, L. Becker and Charles Martene winners, and Mrs. Leon- ard Schenk and Ken Genttner as consolation winners. Robert Becker and Ross Miller outlined the purpose of the league. Paul Pollex, Stratford, was guest speaker, and gave a summary of things leaguers could take part in. A film of youth witnessing brought the evening to a close. Ladie's Aid Entertains The children of Zion Lutheran Sunday School were entertained by the Ladle's Aid at an Easter Party, Group III, with Mrs. Leon - Will You be a statistic this year ? ? ? Zorn, Mrs. Edgar Restenlayer and Mrs, Er- vin Rader conducted games for the school age children, while Marie and Ruthanne Salmon and Ruth- anne Rader were in charge of the pre-school children. A picnic lunch was served. Men's Club Supper About 90 men and boys attend- ed a Lutheran Laymen's League banquet, arranged by the men of Zion Lutheran Church, last Wed- nesday evening. O. M. Weichel, M.P., for North Waterloo was the guest speaker. He spoke on the subject, "The youth of our day, his place in the church, communi- ty and home." Guests were present from Kit- chener, Stratford, and Monkton. Group III of Zion Ladies Aid were in charge of the dinner. Boys' and Girls' Fellowship Mrs. J. W. Gillings and Mrs, Kate Weigand, leaders of the Boys' and Girls' Fellowship of the E. U. B. Church, entertained the boys and girls on Friday afternoon with games and a picnic lunch. BAPTIZED Robert Lee, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Leeland Restemayer, was baptized in Zion Lutheran Church on Sunday morning, by Pastor K. L. Zorn. Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Rest- emayer were sponsors. Miss Connie Spellman, Kitchen- er, was a visitor with Mary Jane Hoffman during the holidays. Wayne and Bruce Weiberg, Kit- chener, vacationed with their grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Weiberg. Mrs. Robert Newton and child- ren, London, vacationed with Mrs. Anne Willert. Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Latta and fancily, Waterloo, spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wei - berg.
