Glenn Thiel spent a day in Lon-
don, last week.
Mervin Stelch, Toronto, was a
visitor in Zurich this past Sunday.
Gordon Love, Hensall, was a vis-
itor in Zurich one day last week.
Taken To Hospital
Mrs. E. Hey was rushed to
South Huron Hospital, in Exeter,
on Monday night, in Westlake
Ambulance.
Hospital News
Joanne Gingerich, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Gingerich, is
a patient in Clinton Public Hospi-
tal, where she underwent an ap-
pendectomy.
Clarence Geoffrey is a patient in
Clinton Hospital.
Miss Dorothy Gasoho, of the
Bronson Line, is a patient in Vic-
toria Hospital, London.
Miss Agnes Oesch has returned
home after undergoing an appen-
dectomy in Clinton Public Hospi-
tal.
Mrs. Gertrude Datars, who has
been in St. Joseph's Hospital,
London, has returned home.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Thiel and
family, were Sunday visitors at
Clinton.
Dr. Archie MacKinnon, Galt,
was a Sunday visitor with friends
and relatives in Zurich.
Mrs. Fred Ducharme, of the
Biuewater highway, spent last
Wednesday in Zurich, with her
daughter, Mrs. T, Hartman,
Mr. and Mrs. William Hess,
Woodstock, were weekend visitors
with Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hess, in
Zurich.
Edward Deicher t, Sarnia, spent
the weekend in Zurich with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Victor
Deichert.
Dr. and Mrs. W. B. Coxon last
week attended the Post Graduate
Conference for Veterinarians at
Michigan State University, East
Lansing, Michigan.
Mrs. Leonard Erb and Bob, Mrs.
Newell, Geiger and John, and Mrs.
Mary Manson, were Sunday even-
ing visitors with Mrs. Nancy
Koehler.
Mr. and Mrs. Allan Craig and
daughter, Nancy, Toronto, were
Saturday visitors with Mrs. Nancy
Koehler, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard
Erb, all of Zurich, and Mrs. Pearl
Koehler, Hensall.
Sunday visitors at the home of

were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Buehler
and children, Waterloo, and Mr.
and Mrs. Melvin Bender, Ailsa
Craig.
Mrs. Mary Manson, Mrs. Nancy

Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Bowman
and family were Thursday visitors
with Mr. and Mrs. Solomon Ging-
erich.
Mr. and Mrs. Greg Fleming and
family, Crediton, and Mr. and Mrs.
Victor Hartman and family, Step-
hen Township, were Sunday visit-
ors with their mother, Mrs. Ther-
esa Hartman.
Dan Gascho spent a few days
last week in Kitchener, at the
home of his. son and family, Mr.
and Mrs. Alvin Gascho. This week
Mr. Gascho is visiting his daugh-
ter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Harold Rader and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Mahlon Sauder,
Brenda and Gary, spent a few
days last week at Dresden visit-
ing with Mr. and Mrs. Harold
Martin, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas
Martin, and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd

South Huron Hospital, Exeter.
Sol Zimmerman is a patient tai
South Huron Hospital, Exeter.
Fred Regier remains in a ser-
ious condition in St. Joseph's Hos-
pital, London.

Complete St. John's Ambulance
Course
In the St. John's Ambulance
course held recently in Zurich,
three Dashwood men received
their certificates. Harry Hoffman
received the label award, having
already completed the voucher and
medallion. Mervyn Webb, as rep-
resentative of Dashwood• fireman,
completed the course, as also did
Ken McCrae.
Musical Get -Together
A musical get-together was held
Saturday afternoon at the home
of Mrs. Harold Stare. Present were
her music pupils, mothers, and
friends.
A program of piano solos and
duets was presented by the pupils.
Musical chairs and passing musi-
cal notes were played with the
older pupils taking turns at the
piano. Refreshrnents were served
and bingo played.
Celebrates 80th Birthday
The family of Mrs. Elizabeth
Marten celebrated her 80th birth-
day at the home of a daughter,
Mr. and Mrs. Homer Russel, Exe-
ter, on Saturday.
Mrs. Laving Kellerman is ill at
home, having suffered a severe
heart attack.
The annual library meeting will
be held Saturday, February 6, in
the club rooms at 4.30 p.m.
Miss Lorna Kraft, London, spent
the weekend whether mother, Mns.
E. G. Kraft.
Mrs. Ervin Eckstein spent last
week at Mitchell with her sister
and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Ed.
Stephen.
Michael Fleet, son of Mrs. Mad-
eline Fleet, had his tonsils re-
moved at St. Joseph's Hospital,
London, on Tuesday.
Henry Hoffman, Harry Hoff-
man. and Mrs. Mervyn Tiernan at-
tended the funeral of the late Mrs.
Mary Farley at St. Thomas, last
week.
Mr. and Mrs. Elgin Rader, and
Richard, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd
Rader 'and Darlene, and L. H.
Rader spent Sunday at Waterloo
with Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Taylor
and family. Also present were Mr.
and Mrs. Garnet Weiberg and
family arid Mrs. L. H. Rader, who
is much improved in health.

Mr. and Mrs. A. Zapfe, Byron,

Hamilton, were Saturday visitors
with Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Parke.
Mr. and Mrs. Clare McBride
and family, visited Mr. and Mrs.
Elmore McBride, in Exeter, on
Sunday.
A large crowd attended the re-
ception for Mr. .and Mrs. Howard
Armstrong in Zurich Community
Centre, on Saturday night.
Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Armstrong
and family, spent Sunday with
their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gar-
net Taylor, at Staffa.
Mrs. Jean McKinley spent the
weekend with Mrs. Bart Levis, in
Clinton.
Mr. and Mrs. Melvin. Elliott and
Joan were in London on Satur-
day. Joan was trying her piano
theory examinations.
Woman's Missionary Society
the first clerk -treasurer of Zur-
iety of Goshen United Church,
held their regular meeting on Jan-
uary 21, at the home of Mrs. El-
gin McKinley, with 20 present.
Mrs. Robert Peck took charge
of the devotional part, assisted by
Mrs. McKinley, Mrs. Clarenne
Parke, and Mrs. Richard Robin-
son. Mrs, Jack Eckel read the
Scripture.
A letter was read from Mrs.
Flossie Keys, thanking the WMS
for the poinsetta sent at Christ-
mas. A letter was also read by
Mrs. Roy McBride, from Norman
Johnston's, and they expect to be
able to speak at a Sunday even-
ing service when they come
around to the vicinity.
Mrs. Elgin McKinley was nom-
inated to take over as the card
secretary in place of Mrs. William
Clarke, who is now living at
Brucefield.
A birthday card with WMS
members' names on it was sent
to Mrs. John McKinley, who cele-
brated her 87th birthday on Jan-
uary 24.
Mrs. R. K. Peck took over the
study book on Africa, and the
meeting closed with singing "We
give Thee but Thine Own" and
prayer.

Girl Guide News

The Girl Guides started their
meeting by forming the horse
shoe formation. They then went
to their patrol corners and the
new Guides were tested on whis-
tle signals, which is one of the
tasks they have to perform to get
their tenderfoot badge.
They also discussed What they
are going to be tested on in the
following weeks. The Guides then
played two games, conducted by

presided for the regular meeting
of Amber Rebekah Lodge last
Wednesday evening. Recording
secretary Mrs. John Ingram sub-
mitted a report of the character
committee, followed by balloting
on candidates.
Vice -grand Mrs. Ernie, Chip -
chase, Mrs. Archie MacGregor and
Mrs. Inez McEwen reported for
the visiting committee.
Arrangements were made for
the degree on February 3, and the
birthday panty on February 17.
Social committee for January
and February are: Mrs. E. Shad-
dick, Mrs. William. Caldwell, Mrs.

Suffers Injury
Miss Joan Rader, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Rader, of
the Goshen Line, south of Zurich,
suffered a painful injury this. past
Monday afternoon.' In closing a
car door she had the tip of her
index finger completely lacerated.
