The former 'Wattle Gerber, she was in her $4th year. She was barn in Wellesley Township on October 28, 1876, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Valentine Gerber. There are also 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Her husband, Michael, predeceased her some years ago. The ,body rested at the West- lake funeral home, Zurich, until" Saturday, January 16, when a pu- blic funeral service was held art the Blake A. Mennonite Church. Geoffrey A prominent Hay Township farmer for many years, John Cyp- rian Geoffrey passed away in Woodstock General Hospital .on Tuesday, January 12, 1960,. in his 82nd year. Born in Stanley Township on April 8, 1.878, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Cyprian Geof- frey. His wife•,the former Sera- phine Masse, predeceased him some years ago. Surviving are four sons, Felix, Toronto; Fergus, London; Clar- ence, Zurich; Treffley, Hay Town- ship; seven daughters, Mrs. Fred (Nora) Bondy, Detroit; Mrs. Dan (Lillie) Patrick, Detroit; Mrs. Bill. (Ann) Attridge, Detroit; Mrs,, Paul (Florence) Sharrette, De- troit; Mrs. Joseph (Geraldine) Grove, Woodstock; Mrs. Wilfred (Marie) Rau, Detroit; Mrs. Alvin (Doris) Regier, Dashwood; two brothers, George, Stanley Town- ship; Peter, North Dakota; three sisters, Mrs. Gilbert Plante, God erich; Mrs. Regis Denonime, Lon- don; and Mrs. David Ducharme, Zurich. There are also 31 grand- children and 13 great-grandchild- ren. Requiem High Mass was sung at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Sit. Joseph, by the Rev. Father I. J. Poisson, on Friday morning at 10 a.m., with burial in the adjoining cemetery. "When you look ahead, 50 years seemsa long, long time. But when. you look back, it seems like no time at 'al'l," says Mr. Vincent. Mr. Vincent believes the biggest change in the last half -century has been in the pace in living. "People today are moving four or five times as fast asthey used to," "This change of pace is all right," he continued, "as long as ;people don't abuse it. They should use: it to benefit the people of the ;;world.,, A family dinner and an open house marked the occasion at the 'couple's farm on concession, 16 of ;I ;Stephen Township. The couple re- celved many cards, visits and best :wishes from friends and relatives. They were married in the Presbyterian manse at Grand Bend by Rev. S. Carrier. Mr. Vin- cent was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Vincent, of con- cession 14, and Mrs. Vincent was • the former Mabel Duncan, daughs, 'ter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Tom Duncan, Bright. The tiwo met when Mrs. Vincent came to visit her married sister, who lived near the vincent farm. . The day they were married was much different from the rainy one on which they celebrated their an- niversary. "The snow wtas up to the top of the fences and it was ten below zero," recalls Mr. Vin- cent. Besides farming, Mr. Vincent did custom threshing in the dis- trict 'and was also a cement con- tractor. He built many (bridges and culverts in Stephen Town- ship. He also laid the long stretch of sidewalk at Grand Bend from the present Colonial Hotel to the casino, which is still in good condi- tion. On his crew were twn men who later became his sons-in-law.. The couple have five children-- Mrs. hildrenMrs. Harold Prance (Minerva),. 'Medford; Mn. George Bullock (Dorothy), Zurich; Ira, at home; and Mrs. Fred Teezel (Viola)., Northville, and Mrs. Donald Dun- nington (Evelyn), Grand Bend. They also have 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mr. Vincent has two brothers still' living—Albert, on the Mal- lard line, and Edward, Winnipeg. A sister predeceased him.
