RO zs HERE People Are Warned To Conserve fuel PREMIER W, H. HEARST ISSUES A CIRCULAR AT INSTANCE OF DOMLNIO' i FUEL CONTROLLER The Government of Ontario, at the request of the Dominion fuel controller, draws public attention to the fuel situation in the prov- inee in the 101 owing no.iee ; War conditions have affected the normal supply of coal and render- ed imperative that every consum- er practice the utmost thrift. Energetic measures are being ad- opted to prevent fuel shortage. This can only be attained by the, fullest co-operation and ass stanee, of every coal consumer. Co-operation may be effected by the adoption of the following pre- cautions; re,cautions; Refrain from using fuel of any kind including gas, until it becom- es absolutely necessary. Practice rigid economy in the, use of fuel. Whomever possible, use substite utes for ,coal to the fullest possible extent. Guard constantly against waste' of fuel when making or cleaning, fires, and when using gas. Thoroughly sift all coal ash and burn the residue. The result will be surprising. One-tenth of the 'fuel originally fed to the fire has been recovered and utilized in this way. The faithful observation of , the foregoing by ' all consumers Will have a marked effect in :eonsery ing the Foal supply and may avert a serious crisis.. Municipal, religious, educational and other a.uthorities attid bodies are ,requested to repeatedly urge and impress the foregoing consid- erations ufio.i the public. elie.. .. w ...4 ' • 'nee last Thursday the streets and houses , of ,Zurich have been h with power supplied by the Bydre.
