A Grand Allied Fair in aid of
the.161st Huron Battalion was held
at Seaforth -oin Wednesday.
A distressing ace`dent befel Mrs
Heilman Bubolz at the home of her
son-in-law Mr. E. Leatherland, of
Tuckersmith, on Sunday morning
of last 'week, Mr. Le.atherland.
had gone downstairs to get some
water for ,ohne of the small child-
ren, end Mrs. Bubolz, hearing him
got up .to see if she could be of
any assistance. In returning to
her room she mistook the door
and irsteed of entering her room
steered into the open stairway
and fell to the bottom fracturing
her hip and terribly bruising herse
She had just been down from Aub-
urn for a few days' visit when, the
accident happened,

expierience of Mr. Victor Snell;: of
the London Road south one clay
recently. At the time the purse
was lost Mr. Snell advertised in -
both Exeter papers and as the
clays passed with no word of it
he gate it up for good imagine,
his sutpri; e while crossing a
field nst south ,of his 'barn to
run across the purse just five week
and 'i day afterwards. The purse
was lyi:- g n. a small pond of water
and was out in the soaking rains
of a few weeks ago. How it got
there is a mystery, but looked .as
though it had been carried there
by some small ,animal. The purse
Was taken into the house and the
money laid out to dry. Mr. Snell
no doubt, considered himself a
mighty lucky man.

Ain interesting event was cel-
brated at the Koine of Mr. G. R.,
Bedford On July 20th, wheal. his
daughter, Evelyn. Bernice, was un-

W. S. (Howey, is tearing down
the building he has been occupy-
ing as a drug store and will re-
place it with a modern two-story
tipsiness block.
AA Ford car belonging to T. Bak-
er's livery was destroyed by fire
the other evening. It was driven,
by 3, Willfares, who rowas returning
frb:m St. Marys., and when three
miles from Exeter the car took to
the .ditch and turned turtle. The
fire 'which resulted practically de-
stroyed the car leaving only the
frame.
Exeter's civic holiday will be
held on Monday, August 7th.

were struck by lightning during
the recent thunderstorm.
