Sincere regret is felt here over the
death of Pie George E Washington,
which took place Wednesday of last
week. He was in London on Friday
last, and came borne feeling r nwell,
He was taken during the night with a
severe attack of pleat.o pneumonia,
which so affected his heart that little
could be done to help him. Ile was
among the first to enlist in the Hensall
contingent, and took an enthusiastic
interest in military work. His death•
is sincerely regretted by his comrades..
The funeral was a military one, and.
was held on Friday afternoon from
Carmel church. Pte Washington came
from England some years ago, and re-
sided in Toronto, where be joined the
staff of the Molsous Bank. About three
years ago he was transferred to the
Hensalt branch. His obligingmanner
made him many friends.
About the fitst of the year be enlist-
ed, and was eager to reach the land
of his birth and the battlefront in
France.

ceremony, Mr and Mrs Howard left
at 4.80 on a trip to Buffalo, Utica and
Oanajoharie N Y and on their return
will reside in Stratford.
