The Local Newspaper.
'o business man, professional man
or manufacturer in any town. should
allow a newspaper published in his
town to go without his name and. busi-
ness being mentioned somewhere in
-its columns, says an exchange. This
applies to all kinds of business—gen-
eral stores, clay goods, groceries, furni-
ture dealers, manufacturing establish-
a(`rnents, automobile dealers, mechanics,
k;1loiea ir+?li,l 7nen snd,:in fact: all kinds
of business. • This does not mean that
you should have a whole or half or
even a quarter of a page ad. in every
issue of the paper but your name and
business should be mentioned, if you
do not use more than a two line space.
A stranger picking up a newspaper
should be able to tell just what busi-
ness is represented in a town by look-
ing at the business•mentioned in the
paper. This is the best possible ad-
vertiser. The man who does not ad-
vertise his business does an injustice
to himself and his town. He is the
man who expects the most free boost-
ing for his town, the man who insists
on sharing the business that comes to
town but refuses to advertise his busi •
ness isndt a valuable addition to any
town. The life of any town depends
upon the lige wide-awake and liberal
advertising business men.
Mr T L Wurm was in Toronto,
Wednesday, on business.
The fine sleighing during the past
week has made our town lively and
business has been good.
24,862 persons subscribed to the
domestic war loan of the Dominion
of Canada.
It is expected that Mr Pipe, of
London, will sing at the Patriotic
meeting here next Thursday evening.
The recent cold weather has formed
ice on Lake Huron, allowing the fish
ernien to set their nets. A few small
catches of herring are reported, also of
some lake trout.
Neighbors and friends gathered at
the hone of 'Mr and Mrs Conrad
Thoil, of town, last Friday night and
helped to celebrate the anniversary of
the birthdays of the two brothers, Mes-
srs Conrad and George Theil. A very
enjoyable time was spent by all pres-
ent.
