FIRE INSURANCE:
The annual meeting of the above
company was held in the Town Hall,
Zurich, on Monday, Jan 31st. A
•good number of the policy holders of
the company were present and all
manifested a deep interest in the pro-
ceati ings.
11'tr William Consitt, the president
for 1915, was appointed as chairman
and the business was then proceeded
with. The minutes of the last annual
meeting were read and adopted. The
annual report of the directors and 'the
manager's financial and tee” auditors'
reports were also adopted. Messrs. A
G Ebnes and Jacob Haberer were re-
appointed auditors for the year. -The
retiring directors, Messrs Wm Consit,
C Stade and W Lamont were elected
by -acclamation for another term of
three years. The resignation of John
Sherritb was accepted and his son,Roy
Sherritt, of Stephen, was elected to
fill out the balance of the term on the
director's hoard.
Short addresses were given by a
number of the directors and also by,
the secretary, Mr. H Eilber, and a
number of interesting points were
brought out. The secretary, in his
remarks, made reference to 'an unus-
nal loss during the past year. It was
the loss of a large barn which was
struck by lightning. One lightning
rod had been placed on the center of
the structure, but this was not suffi-
cient for so large a building. Stress
was also laid upon the proper connec-
tion being madebetween the point and
the moisture in the ground. He also
warned the farriers against fake ligh-
tning rod agents. Buildings with metal
roofs should have ground connections
to make the same ' lightning proof.
These are facts worthy of note.
• The 41st annual report of the direc-
tors shows that 564 policies were

with the total amount at risk of
$5,042,645.00.
The total receiptsfor 1915 were
$10,888.27 and the losses amounted.
to °5004,00, The other expenses were
$891.27, leaving a balance on hand of
x;4992 98. The total assets,•of the
