Y. McLEAN, DIES. SUDDENLY Seaforth, Jan. 19.—Death csme suddenly this morning to Mr M Y McLean, editor and proprietor of The Huron Expositor. Mr McLean was at 'work as usual in his office yester- day and retired in his usual health, but was seized with an,attack of heart failure and expired about 1 o'clock this morning. The deceased was one of the pione- er's of this district and was well and thoroughly known throughout the entire county. Ile was aLiberal ex - member of both Provincial and Dominion Parliaments and has held almost every municipal office in Sea- foith. He was about 75 years of age and is survived by his -wife and a family of four sons and one daughter, Sarabel, at home. The sons are: Willyiam D., of Edmonton; Kieth, of The Expositor staff; Lieut Arthur, of the 63rd Battalion now stationed at Quebec, and Lieut Robertson, of the 161st Battalion, of Goderich. Hydro Radial Plans The voice of the people on the hy- difo.radial scheme is but a repitition alto hydro power question. It was received with suspicion at first but in e few years has grown to large propor- tions and the hydro commission are *Opt busy meeting the demands of the smaller places. The hearty endorsa- tion.given the trunk line of the radial system for Loudon to Toronto presages that in the"near future this section of Ontario will be a net work of hydro radials the psople paying the price and icing the profits for their own benefits. i•e radial cars stop at any sideroad concession for passengers or frieght -ears run every Dour, The draw s the cananassion for this district i6. lxrtel xom Tx©tc throe Ii i x11a, GGirteh'eleea, Ifirkton, Wooc1- hain to •Granton. From sur- veys made and statistics gathered the line should be a paying proposition from the start. The first move has been made on the main line but the work of construction wily not be 'the work of a day but clearly shows the trend of the radial railway and assures' us that in the course of time Exeter will be included in the hydro radial circuit just as she has joined the hydro power belt, Corporations move slow ly but let our council keep closely in touch with the commission along this line. All things come to those who wait but they come faster to those who go out after them,—Exeter Times. Matters in general pertaining to the welfare of our town were dis- cussed and pfans made for the necess- ary -work for the coming year. It is expected that no great outlay will be necessary for new work as nearly all sidewalks in the village have been constructed, and it was decided to per- fect and complete the water supply system. Now that hydro will be in- stalled in Zurich, it will be the aim of the Trustees to keep down the ex- penses in other directions, so the tax bill will not seem larger than in other years, as regards to the village at least Interest at highest current rates Zurich Branch R.
