BUSINVJASS BLOCK SOLD Mr Charles Greb, of Berlin, was in the village on Wednesday and while here closed the deal by which Mr J Preeter gets possession of the brick block and premises in which he bas been doing business for many years. Mr Preeter is one of our leading mer- chants and it is a good omen for our town when such men have enongh faith in the future of it to invest in valuable property. The meeting held in the Town Hall on Friday evening in the interests of hydro was well attended. Mr F Hess Sr., acted as chairman. Mr G H Stanley of Lucan addressed the meet- ing and the way in which he handled the subject showed that he had made a'thorough study of the same. The many interesting comparisons and points referred to by him helped much to enlighten the minds of many rho were in doubt, In his closing remarks he touched on the hydro -radial schemes now ofmuch interest to many sections of Ontario and he stated on good au- thority that Zurich was on the radial map and that when the scheme has been worked out a radial line would. connect our village with outside pointse The meeting was an enthusiatic on t and the yote on Monday shows tint the residents of Zurich are up and doing when the interests of our village are considered. DUNLOP, Manage 99 MAJORITY The vote on the two by-laws on Monday, giving the Police Trustees of Zurich power to enter into a contract with the Hydro -Electric Commission of Ontario for a supply of hydro- eleotric power and to issue debentures to cover the cost of construction and equipment within the corporation, was carried almost unanimously, Out of one hundred and eleven votes polled one hundred and five voted for and six against the by-laws. Considerable interest was taken in the voting and by noon oyor half had voted. It will likely be October or Novem- ber before the power will be turned on here as the construction of the line from Exeter will take codsiderable time and the Commission is Woking` hard to keep up with the demand for hydro power. Many interesting points wars brought out during the contest, and Much figuring was done, but as a matter of fact, it is impossible to get at the exact cost of everything con- nected with the system. The guaran- tee we }ave from the commission is that all supplies, etc., will be put in at cost price, and a system built that will be permanent, If we take, for evample, other towns the size of Zurich which have installed hydro, we will find that all are well satisfied with the cost of it and the service maintain - e:, HURON COUNTY COUNCIL The following will be among the members that compose the county council.
