Mr Emerson Smith of Dauphin,
1\Ian., arrived home on Saturday. He
will remain during the winter.
Mr and ktrs John Brown, of Green-
way, have beenappointed keeper and
matron of the .county House of Refuge.
Mr VA Constantine, rnanaaier of the
Molsons Bank, Highgate, for three
years, and formerly manager of the
branch here, has been transferred to
the Teeswater and Formosa branches
of that bank.
It is stated that when the next bud-
get is brought down at Ottawa theat-
res, pool rooms, bowling alleys, skating
riulcs: and other places of public amuse
ment in the country will be taxed with
a special war levy -
Mr Solomon Gingerich, of the
Goshen Line south, has sold 50 acres
of his farm, being the north half of
lot 12, in the 10th con., to his brothers,
Messrs David and Samuel •Gingerich.
The former still has 100 acres.

church, who, has been delivering .a
number of addresses on"The popular

The funeral of the late Robert
Snowden is being held this afternoon
to Bayfield cemetery, Deceased was
a prominent resident of Stanley town-
ship
ownship for many years, , and was well
known in Zurich and vicinity. By
his genial ways and upright character
he had made hosts of. friends. The
sympathy of the community gees out
to the bereaved family..
Remember the Christmas entertain-
ment of the Evangelical church S
School, on Monday eve, Dec 27th at
8 o'clock. The most beautiful canta-
ta: "The search for'a Icing," will . be
rendered by the school assisted by the
choir. This unique cantata is so diff-
erent from those of foimer years, that
its rendering will be one of the season's
events, Its author certainly has
brought glory upon himself, Doors
open at 7 o'clock. Admission adults
25 cents children 10 cents.
I ani again taking orders for Fer-
tilizer this spring. I have the full
line, 12 different grades because differ,
ent plants require , different food.
Lime is very necessary for some land
I have Basic' Slag, 12%, it is very good
for a top dresser for grass to put on in
fall so as to get it to act in spring. It
is a slow acting fertilizer. Our 16%.
phosphate is 15% water soluble, it is
a very quick acting fertilizer for spring
crops, sold at $25.00 a ton, Basic Slag
$21 00, Li me at $6.00 a ton, and the
ready mixed fertilizer the price is
a ccording to the ingredients. Thank-
