Miss Alice E, 'youngest daughter of
Mr and Mrs J W Tippett, Bayfield,
was married on Nov 25th, to Percy
Dayment of Detroit. Rev F G Rick-
ard performed the ceremony.
EXETER.
The annual meeting of the Exeter
and South Huron Ministerial Associa-
tion was held in Trivitt Memorial
church on Monday, Officers for the
year were elected and the program for
1916 outlined.
Two young men from St Marys
were brought before a magistrate the
other day and fined $41.85 for shoot-
ing black squirrels out of season.
The. evangelistic campaign , being
conducted here by Rev Crossley will
be continued for several weeks.
The girls of the Jackson Mfg Co
will make hospital shirts for the sol-
diers on Saturday afternoons free of
charge.
It is expected that hydropower will
be turned on here about . the end of
December or the first week in January.
Ida M Rowe, daughter of 111r and
Mrs R N Rowe, was united in marriage
on Dec lst to Thomas M Dinney, , by
Rev W G H McAllister.
Miss Susie Case, of Hensall, who
has been visiting relatives here, has
left for new Baltimore Mich., and will
accompanyMr and Mrs G ]Marty, of
that place, to Florida, for the winter,

poisoning in his right hand.

The daughter of Mr Jos Bedard, St
Joseph, underwent a successful opera-
tion for appendicitis at St Joseph's
Hospital London, Last week.,,

minutes more had elasped, it would
have been impossible to extinguish. it.

Dr H G Malloy intends opening the
confectionary business formerly con-
ducted by Percy Wiggins.
The dance held recently by the
bachelors and benedicts in the .town
hall was a success. Over $75 was
paid oyer to the Red Cross Fund,

GRAND BEN D
Mr and 1VIrs Bruce Bossenberry
have returned home from a few mon-
th's trip to the western provinces.
The Patriotic dance given by the
young ladies of Grand Bend and
vicinityon Friday evening last was
a decided success both from a social
and financial standpoint. The pro-
ceeds amounted to nearly $70. Bren
net's Hall and the music were given
free of charge. To those much thanks
is due.. As this is the first attempt of
the "On -we -glide" to raise money this
way, they are to be heartily con-
gratulaaed upon the success of the
affair. And we hope to bear from
thein again before the winter is over,

ized at the Lutheran parsonage on
Dec lst, when Miss Clara Eckstein
became the bride of Mr Win Becker,
The happy couple were unattended
and immediately following the cere-

returning they will reside on the gro-
om's fine farm north of the village,
Mrs J Hoffman of Tavistock is vis-

The Xmas extertainnlent in connec-
tion with the Evangelical S School
will be rendered oil Christmas night,
A good program is being prepared and
a good time is in store for all who at-

Mrs Ernest Rader returned home
on Tuesday from the Hospital at Lon-
don where she had been for sometime.
We hope the treatmrnt she received
may be beneficial to her and that

good health.
Mr Louis Willett returned from
Buffalo on Tuesday where he bad
been with a load of cattle.

Home of Mr and Mrs Ed Willert oi.

and Rich Robinson were in London
Monday, to see the soldiers off. Five
members of the 83rd Batt, are from
Stanley.
Forest and Earl Jobnslon, who
spent some months at llilestcne, Sask
bane returned home.
John McKinley is attending county
council this week.
There passed away at Yale, Mich.,
on Dec 5th Jas Keys, at the age of
91 years. The deceased was a former
resident of this township, living ou
the Babylon Line. Mr W L Keys
is a son. The funeral was held on
Wednesday, several from here .attend-
ing.
RUSSIAN OFFENSIVE
PARIS, Nov 80.—Despatches from
Russia declare preparations are being
made for a now and tremendous offen-
sive.., A11 depots are filled with re-
cruits who are being trained.
In the spring Russia will be able
to put in the field an army if 7,000,-
000 igen, including 1,000,000 caval-
ry: She also will Kaye 10,000 pieces
of artillery.
A correspondent writes of a German
town: "Saloons and hotels are empty,
and churches are filled with people;
oven "Freethinkers" are enquiring for
the Living Gocl." What of Canada!
