The address given by Dr P A Laury of the Waterloo Seminary, in the Lutheran church last Friday night, was an interesting one and will not soon be forgotten by those who had the pleasure of hearing it. The pro- fessor is a forcible and impressionable speaker and his subject, Martin Luth- er and religious education of the pres- ent day was thoroughly dealt with, Every farmer who can possibly do so should attend the Agricultural Con ference on Patriotism and Production to bo held at Seaforth on Friday, Feb 12th, in the afternoon at 3 o'clock and in the evening at 7 30 o'clock under the auspices of the Dominion and Ontario Government. The subjects chosen are The duty and opportunity of the Canadian Farmer in relation to Farm Crops and in relation to Live Stock. Both en- gines and the express oar turned over on their sides andpulled the rest of the train off the tracks. Fireman Metcalf and Engineer J Ross were severely scalded. COUNTY COUNCIL At the session of the Huron County Council held! at Goderich last week, a grant was made of $1,000 a month to the Patrietio fund as long as the Goland cil deems:it necessary, and also $5;000 to the Belgian Relief Fund, the money to be spent buying flour and any other necessities made in the county. A committee, representing the'.temper- ance party, asked the council for a rigid enforcement of the Canada Tem- perance Act. A special committee will report on the matter at the June meeting. CELLO! The system is in excellent condition, the balance on hand after paying all the 1914 accounts is over $800. The system was extended eon- siderably the past year and now has about 450 subscribers. The managers of the Zurich and the Dashwood centrals have been hired for a year and put on a straight salary, and they have to keep the lines in repair, put in new telephones, etc., without extra charge except where the work exceeds the use of more than two poles, when extra will be allowed. The building of another trunk line to Hensall was fully discussed and the matter was left in the hands of the township coun- cil to deal with as they thought best; PRESENTATION, The members of the Senior German Sunday School class of the Evangelic- al church met at the home of their teacher, Mr. Henry Lipphardt, on Sat- urday afternoon last and presented hint with an address and a handsome cane.
